I have a project that requires me to read a novel by Joyce Carol Oates
and write an extensive analysis on the main character. As I've never
encountered JCO before now, I would appreciate some advice on which
novel to choose that would be best suited for my purposes. Thank you
very much!

And, you could try WONDERLAND--it has 2 different endings depending on the version you find.

We Were the Mulvaneys is a great introduction to Joyce Carol Oates, and easier to read than some of her work, in my opinion.

Are any of these novels award-winning? My teacher seemed especially keen on acclaimed works...

My suggestion to you Sara is to google the names of the books you were given here and see if they were awarded any prizes.

Perhaps you can help.  I keep trying to unsubscribe as directed at the bottom of your email, but I get a "Mail Delivery Failure" every time.  What do you suppose I'm doing wrong?
