to Tonatiuh - Monte Carlo ray tracer for the optical simulation of CSP systems.
A want to optimize and design the aperture, the tower and the
heliostats field (in MATLAB),i have estimate the radiation with
different models : capderou ,kasten ,perrin de brichambau… with
FORTRAN but matlab is better.
I want to work with Tonatiuh but im beginner so,

1- How do I use a radiation models (results) in tonatiuh or soltrace?
2-How do i generate a solar field in Tonatiuh?
3-Can tonatiuh load a matlab files or fortran files to use it?
And finally ,can I use SOLTRACE to design the heliostats field and
load it in tonatiuh ?

Please help me.
Best regards

Hello Toufik,

To get started in Tonatiuh, I recommend you visit the tutorial site of
Tonatiuh. http://code.google.com/p/tonatiuh/wiki/Tutorials
Here, you can achieve a global idea about the main functions available
in Tonatiuh. Once you have done them, you can modify them to build you
own solar field. There are also some examples that you might download
from the downloads site.

In tonatiuh 1.2.5 (the latest version) you can't load external files
in Tonatiuh but we are improving that for a following update.
To use your radiation models, you have to insert the value when you
define the sun in Tonatiuh in the irradiance parameter.

Finally, I'm sorry but this is a discussion forum only about Tonatiuh
so I can't answer you anything related to Soltrace because I don´t use
it.

I hope this helps you.

Best regards,
Sergio
