Hi,

I've been using TomoNet these past few days and am enjoying it so far! Now I am tweaking parameters in the "Auto Expansion" feature to get the best results possible.

Under "Generate Picking Parameters," under "Other Inputs," there is an option to define the "Repeating Unit" of the lattice-like structure in A. My question is - if tomograms are not reconstructed in TomoNet, what value should I use for the repeating unit? Does TomoNet assume a voxel size (e.g., 10 A) if no voxel size is given?

Thanks a ton!

Hi Joey,

Thank you for using our software!
TomoNet by default reads the pixel size info in the mrc header (if you use header input.mrc you can see that), so it is not relevant to where you reconstruct the tomograms, actually each module in TomoNet is most likely can be independent. The absolute repeating unit in Angstrom will be transferred to the corresponding pixel size calculated based on that pixel size info. If the header info is incorrect, then you have to correct it first.
This repeating unit param is mainly account for duplicates detect during the expand, too large value will lead to low picking number, too small value will lead to duplicates, there is a ~20% range of acceptance, so don't need to be too accurate though.
Hope this is helpful to you, let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,
Hui
