I cannot make it work. I cannot find it in the start menu. So I started it from C:\Program Files\Tomighty. Then a tomato can be found in the tray where I can enter the preferences. But I cannot start it...

Hi Katharina, I'm not sure why you are having trouble with it but I use it on Windows 10 all the time. I suggest you uninstall it, then make sure everything is closed on your computer, disable your antivirus and try again. I attached a screen shot of what the interface looks like. Right click gives you the preferences but you left click to bring up the interface to start the times or to start a break, etc...

Thank you very much for your kind answer. I don't know why it doesn't work with me but in the meantime I found the program PomoDoneApp that fits my needs perfectly.

Same here. I tested it for compatibility with windows 10 and it failed. "The registry refers to a nonexistent Java Runtime Environment or the runtime is corrupted." Can't seem to fix it.

Hi,

I'd suggest to uninstall Java and install the latest version available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

As an alternative, there's a new, not-yet-released version of Tomighty for Windows that you can try, if you will.  It doesn't need Java: https://github.com/tomighty/tomighty-windows/releases/download/v1.0-alpha02/tomighty-windows-alpha-02-bin.zip

Please let me know which one works best for you.

Cheers,
Celio Cidral Jr.

Hi,
I had the same problem. In my case, the 64 bit version of Java was available (x64) on my computer and the 32 bit version (i586) was missing.
Downloading and installing the 32 bit version (file name ending in -windows-i586.exe) from the http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html site solved the problem.

Hi,

I had the same issue. I installed the last Tomighty version (lazy person to uninstall and reinstall Java) and it works properly!
Thank you!

Absolutely!

It worked for me, first time. Windows 10, May 2017, with the default Tomighty Windows download (tomighty-0.7.1-install.exe).

I don't have Java on my computer (and avoid anything which requires it).

The only problem was that I didn't know Tomighty was working, because when I ran it I didn't see anything - until I spotted it in the system tray.

After 5 years of trying out Pomodoro apps, and purchasing several, I've finally found the one I've been looking for!

Great work, Celio!

Hello everyone!

I apologize for all the trouble you're having with Java.  I'm working on a (hopefully) better version of Tomighty for Windows 10, it would be great if you could try it out.  It's a work in progress but it's quite polished at this point.  It's available here:

Instructions included.

This version doesn't require Java, it should run just out-of-the-box on any Windows 10 box.  You'll find that the design has changed quite a bit, so please let me know your thoughts on it.  Feedback is always appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks Celio.

It installs fine and looks good.

The only problem I had was same as with the previous version - I didn't notice that it had installed because nothing happens after finishing the dialog sequence. I suggest you have a final screen telling the user to look for Tomighty in the System Tray.

I'll try to follow up with a bit more after I've used it for a while.

TAll the best from Australia,

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

I guess you didn't notice installation process because the the archive has portable version with all requred dependencies. It needn't to be installed.

Hi,

I've finished trialling version 1.0 and here is my feedback:

1. It installs and runs fine on a computer without Java (as does 0.7.1)
2. The final step of installation should be to tell the user how to run it (ie. click the desktop icon, and then look for it in the system tray). Otherwise, the user will click the icon and think it's not working.
3. I like the new look, with the less bright color!
4. I will go back to using 0.7.1 because it runs better:
        1. Shows time on the System Tray icon
         2. Gives a nice ring when starting a Pomodoro
         3. Shows number of Pomodoros (see picture)
         4. The drop down option for "Restart Pomodo | Short Break | Long Break" is more useful to me than the Close button on v 1.0

I've made a donation of $10, because I love this app!

Thanks guys!

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Thank you so much for the feedback and for the donation, I really appreciate it!  I'll make sure to include the enhancements you brought up in the upcoming versions.  By the way, do you have any comments on the menu that is shown when you right-click the tray icon?

Cheers!

I liked the menu with the images (icons) for Pomodoro | Short Break | Long Break! :)

This was one of the features which I liked most, but  I found it uninintuitive to have these actions on a right-click, along with "Options" and "Exit". I definitely prefer having the main actions all on the main screen, or with left mouse clicks.

But, the three images were definitely worthwhile!

All the best from Australia,

Stephen

> I found it uninintuitive to have these actions on a right-click

This has been one of my concerns.  I too think it's not intuitive because the user has to figure out that a menu shows up on right-clicking the tray icon.  I'll think of a solution for that.  Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Celio
