Apologies I won't be able to join the conf call tonight (middle of the
night for me here at GMT+7), but I read the White Paper and think it
looks like an excellent proposal. I thoroughly support the goals of
this proposed meeting and agree that ToLWeb is a very sensible single
project to rally around as a catalyst to getting working all these
tools that we'd all love to be able to hook into.
For those who are not aware of it, Peter Stevens, Amy Zanne and I
(with Sheldon McKay and others from iPlant) have been working on
APweb2, an upgrade of Peter's popular plant systematics resource. We
envision this to look much like what this group is proposing for
ToLweb2, and there are a lot of development parallels (multiple
underlying trees, the need for stable node identifiers, education
resources, tree visualization and pretty webpages, semantic web
integration...) and it will be great to be able to share what we
learn. We just had a conf call last night and are now looking for a
programmer to start building. Our iPlant page is at:

Have a good conference call. Look forward to chatting about this with
you all in person, in the future.
Best,
Cam
