to ToLWeb 2.0
Folks,

First of all, I think it is great that you folks are working on this
vision of ToLWeb 2.0. Some of the vision you have fits very nicely
with our dreams of ToLWeb, but dreams that I am not capable of
reaching, as I simply don't have the time, nor the expertise, to
fulfill them. You folks do have the expertise, and have added novel
elements to the vision, and that's inspiring. And it's great to have
so many of a younger generation involved - it is folks like you that
need to pick up the torch.

It's clear to me, though, that I need to be more engaged in this
process for it to be successful - if nothing else, it will be hard for
you to get the buy in of many members of the systematics community
involved in ToLWeb without my blessing. In addition, if ToLWeb 2.0
is to use any of the existing resources of ToLWeb 1.0, it will be
logistically very difficult to do that without a lot of communication
with me. So, I will try to be as engaged as possible in the process.
Yesterday I was given write-access to the whitepaper, and will work on
it this morning.

There's actually a lot of news that I need to give you folks about
ToLWeb things, including a major grant proposal that is being
formulated for the ATOL, which involves some of the same elements that
your ToLWeb 2.0 is calling for. I just noticed that there is a
conference call for this group tomorrow; hopefully I can participate
in that. In the meantime, I'll try to post a note to the group today
with more details about what's going on.

Thanks,
David
