whitepaper updates

At the previous teleconference on January 29, we decided to delay submission of the whitepaper. The minutes are here:

David Maddison joined us to inform us about another group writing an NSF Assembling the Tree of Life (AToL) proposal, focusing on synthesis of phylogenetic data from other projects, including ToLWeb. The goals of this group have some implications for our plan as outlined in the current version of the whitepaper, and we thought it would be prudent to explore these issues and perhaps re-think parts of our proposal before submitting it. 

There is a teleconference next Tuesday at 3pm EST (call-in details will come later) with both the AToL and ToLWeb2.0 groups to discuss the two proposals and determine how they can best support each other. 

Nico Cellinese, Karen Cranston, Hilmar Lapp and Arlin Stoltzfus have been invited to be PIs on the AToL grant (either directly by David or through other connections at our home institutions). Our role in the AToL proposal would be both as representatives of the tolweb2 community and as individual researchers with goals related to data interoperability.
