I just finished created a windows 10 64bit Version 1909 OS build 18363.592 image by grabbing a virtual machine using a non UEFI bios. I thought everything was working ok, except I noticed this computer, that gets windows updates from our wsus server, which the wsus is old from like 2014 and we are upgrading it soon, but I noticed it was trying to process the KB4484250 (version 1.309.839.0)security intelligence update for windows defender antivirus and it was stuck in a crazy loop. The update was very quickly cycling through pending, downloading, installing 0% or 100% and it was stuck like that in a continuous loop. I checked the cpu and the cpu was high around 60% stayed high, memory looked all right considering. We do use a server managed windows defender which that computer is a client of. The computer has the same defender engine, antimalware client version and all that jazz that all our regular computers have now since they keep up to date.
Anyone ever seen this before and know a fix? It has done this with a second imaging test I tried out also with the same computer and same image. I have a 1803 windows 10 image that I updated last in spring 2019 and that works perfectly fine on the computer.
Cool, thanks will give it a try, I'm worried that this problem will occur on any computer I now image with that 1909 image, but yes I hear you about the wsus and windows update, hoping upgrading our wsus will cure this problem but only time will tell.
