Anyone knows how to repair  loose railing attachments (nut inside got loose and turns around) ist possible to get to that from inside ? please reply

There are star nuts in the wood underneath the gunwale. You usually need to pull back the headliner and there can be an additional piece of wood covering up the star nuts and making a flush surface for fastening the headliner or other materials. Not hard work but very time-consuming.

It's typical TolleyCraft Junk.

I had the issue in my 34 Tolly.  I had the entire railing pulled off and moved everything inside that was necessary to put new bolts/screws with nuts.  It is possible.

I have a 1983 48' Tollycraft and restored her. Having been all over the boat over 15 years I know most of the ins and outs. For a lasting fix, I would replace any loose fittings and rail fasteners. As a side note, many years ago I acquired most all of the Tollycraft engineering drawings of all their boats - all sizes - and production photos of every stage of build. I also have original dealer new boat   
pamphlets for most models sold. With retirement I thought I might start an info site. This is my Lusty LuLu!

My Tolly is 1998 anyone has construction drawing for that year,
Also anyone had change ceiling from fabric to solid panels

Thanks for info, I have discover that there is  wood header (2” by 4”) in location where railing, window covering  are  fasten to, looks like  I have to remove this header , any one knows if this header is screw to the ceiling ? I have  pull headliner but not able to get to star nut

Header is finish with teak panelling

Thanks for info.still having problems to get to area of loose star nuts,I have remove headliner but still no access to problem are, thinking to remove completely, your thoughts
