A lingering gas/engine smell in salon.

My Tolly 30 Sports Cruiser has gas engines, and I can smell an engine compartment smell in the main salon.  

I'm sealing every opening I can find in the engine compartment bulkhead.

Is it possible to remove any hint of this in the Tolly 30s?

Has anyone dealt with this, and how did you end up dealing with it?

I have found Kanberra brand tea tree oil spray amazing at eliminating odors.  Tough to find, but it works IMO.

Hi Steve, 

Kanberra Gel worked like a champ for us.  It kept the boat smelling fresh without any odd sent covering irritation.  It is a tea tree product that you can just leave on your boat. We first ran into it at the Anacortes boat show and thought “yea, sure…” Well, they gave us a sample and we have used it ever since and not just on the boat.  Available at Fisheries Supply in Seattle and Amazon.   Several sizes to choose from.  

If that doesn’t work fast enough, you can sure try an Ozone generator.  (Also available on Amazon) Button up the boat before you turn on the generator and leave.  You don’t want to breathe this while it is running.  Afterwards, you want to really air out the treated area of your boat.  There will be a residual Ozone smell when your done, but that will dissipate in a few days.
