Does anyone have a mechanic recommendation in Seattle for a potential rebuild / major overhaul?  Looking for someone trustworthy to help evaluate options for a pair of gas Crusaders with low / uneven compression and generally showing their age.  :)  Thanks!

I'm also curious about a rebuild on a single Mercruiser. Following.

I've had good luck with Action Machine.  They can do Crusader engines.  https://actionmachine.com/

I also recommend Action Machine  (AM) in Lynwood.  I consulted with a friend of mine who was the crew chief on a racing team for many years and he didn't hesitate to recommend AM.  I collected information to spec the build and relied heavily on the recommendations from Rob at AM and Dennis Moore's book "Small Block Chevy Marine Performance."

Rob recommended Jim Preston at Preston Automotive who put my new 350 SBC engine on his dyno where he ran a break-in and testing program and the testing was amazing.  I maintained the original HP of 270, but the torque reached 385 ft lbs  starting at 2,200 RPM and staying flat all the way through 4,400 RPM (if memory serves). I didn't take the time to review the testing, but Jim Preston and his dyno expert were impressed with the results.  Note that we  backed the timing off two degrees to remove a little of the punch and gain long-term reliability and durability.  I will add that back in if anybody wants to race me.

I posted the dyno testing results on the my Google Drive folder where I have been sharing the information on the rebuild and update of my Tolly 26 Sedan.  Look for the "Engine" folder or use the Engine link; and if you need additional information, send me a note bhedm...@gmail.com.

Remember, there is no bilge pump as effective as a frightened man with a bucket.
