Michael, you wrote somewhere here that you were off to Scandinavia on
(I think) 4 July. Please confirm if you see this and in any case bon
voyage! When are you due back?

Hi Ted,

You are spot on. We leave on the 4th of July, arriving in Copenhagen
on the morning of the 5th. We will return around the 23rd of July I
think so it's a helter-skelter trip taking in Norway and Sweden too.
We plan on visiting Roskilde on Day 1. We will have limited access to
the Net so I'll try and drop by here.

Michael

Ah! Wonderful Copenhagen, as Frank Loesser once wrote. Don't miss the
mermaid ;)

Are you likely to get anywhere near Bergen in Norway? That's where one
finds Troldhaugen, the one time home of Edvard Grieg and his wife, now
a museum of Grieg memorabilia.

Will you go where the sun doesn't set (at this time of year)?

Hi Jeff. I don't know anything more about Bergen than that it's the
location of Troldhaugen. I was disappointed with Troldhaugen after
seeing the photo of it in the Wikipedia. I imagined it as a castle.
And where is the little summer house that Grieg was said to have
composed in?

Bergen is on our itinerary. I believe we have two nights there so we
should be able to cover Bergen pretty well.

Jeff - what do you insist that we should see?

Can't miss thr Bryggen....the Hanseatic League Wooden buildings by thr
Vagen( that's the harbour).
And the little but intense Museum..(same area a little further along
the harbour)
And the Art Gallery is v good too.....up and away from ther harbour.
Be aware that Bergen blew up in 1943/ I wrote a piece about this I
will send it to you..an odd story too...dynamite bound forthe north
during the war sghipped by the Germans in occupation told noone oin
the harbour and the damn thik blew the hell out of the harbour
starting fires all over Bergen....catastrophic..a small tidal wave put
boats ashore and a lot of peole died(see Lynch circa 2006)
