From the facebook activity around both the fb event page and the TW page, it seems there will be some attendance at the Learn and Launch.

Let's throw out some ideas towards planning.

-there needs to be some laptops on hand so that folks can create user accounts and add content, however brief or deep, on the spot.

-the schoomzing and casual talk atmosphere might be complemented well with some glue that gives shape/focus to the event.  I can prepare some talking points and slides to take 20 minutes for delivering info and opening the floor to a general Q&A.  This means we need a digital projector.

-we definitely won't have stickers before the event, and probably a slim chance to have them for the event; but it would be great to have some schwag for the event.  I know Matt Taylor is real busy, hopefully there'll be a logo this weekend, then maybe we can squeeze a small run through the Holland printer during Thanksgiving week (yikes)?  We'll see.

-we need at least one person taking pics, focussing especially on: a) general attendance, b) folks creating user accounts and editing, c) Q&A, d) the FOOD!

Running list of needs for event:
-laptops: what's a good #? 5-10? I've got 2 I can bring, but one will have to be used for slide show at a certain point.

-digital projector & screen: anyone have access to a decent projector?  And what about projection space....a portable screen or a wall?  Maybe Tim Ide and/or Toby?

-camera(s) to snap photos

What do you think?

I have one laptop I can bring. I'd be happy to take photos with my iPhone, unless we can find someone with a real camera who wants to do photos.

I think Toby and/or Tim have projectors and that stuff. Is Toby on this list yet? I can send him a separate email to see what they've got.

Would it be worthwhile to ask on the FB invite that people bring their own laptops, if possible?

I think we should ask people to bring their own laptops if they can.

that's a good idea rachel.

how to get the word out about that? put it on the facebook page? put it on the wiki? tell the individuals we physically talk to about it?

any other way?

Yeah,  we should start a push on the laptop front every time we post or mention it.

I will check with Amjad about a projector. We can bring a couple of sheets or project on the wall. It may not be dark enough to really project. I will check it out.

I will be shooting video and Megan will shoot some snap shots.

I think the word about laptops seems to be getting out. We can reiterate on FB.
