Deficiency found in some solar-eclipse glasses in Japan
A group of astronomers has warned that some eclipse glasses sold in Japan have been found to be insufficiently lightproof to safely view the upcoming annular solar eclipse and could cause retinopathy when observers see the sun through them.
The Japan committee for the annular solar eclipse 2012, which comprises academic and amateur astronomers, called on observers to make sure they have proper glasses before the eclipse, expected to occur Monday.

how many and what is max price willing to be paid?

the astrosolar film I have got is also an option. Instructions that come with it are all about lenses, but there is a picture of glasses made out of it.

Sounds pretty easy, you put on the glasses and look at the sun. If you go blind, they're defective!

Or a slightly safer way, from the link:

The committee said glasses are deficient if observers can clearly see the shape of fluorescent light tubes through them and called on people to check carefully if they have cracks or holes.

Yah.. I looked at full on sun with and without clouds.
Its a nice orange ball, but not too bright.
Cool point is that even through clouds, its visible.

they promised those are safe... :)
and they said those are not made from astroSolar film

I took a practice shot yesterday, using my pocket camera, through the solar glasses.
Both optical and digital zoom set to max. My hands are highly unsteady ;)

That is probably way overexposed... Can you increase shutter speed?
You might be able to see the sunspots.

You don't need one with normal lenses. I am shooting at 1/8000 of a
second, so the tripod is only useful to aim the lens at the sun.

Ill try a few shots with a fast shutter, and whatever the camera
thinks should be "normal" should be interesting..
