Details about getting tables at the Maker Faire have been announced.

http://makezine.jp/callformakers/

In short, it isn't going to be like the past Make Meetings. Booth
space is for pay if we're planning to sell merch, free if we just
display. We can still do a talk / workshop. They'll provide room and
tools for the workshops - so maybe they won't need our soldering
stations.
Tables are rented for both days, and include up to 4 entrance passes.
No high-voltage devices, musical instruments, lasers, or other harmful
things without prior permission. Things that draw lots of power (like
coffee makers) must be declared.

Satoka, do you have any personal contacts at Make / O'Reilly? We could
make a case for special treatment based on our past showings.

No musical istruments? Couldn't find anything related to that. What seems strange is this part: You have to obtain permission for doing cosplay, which includes wearable devices and craft work. Is this true or is it a Google translate screwup?

I started to fell like this year will not be that enjoyable as previous ones...

Sorry, I misread 楽器 for 薬品, "drugs"

It sounds a lot less authoritarian in Japanese. "Wearable devices and
crafts are greatly welcomed, but be sure you put in your application
first."

Just be sure you declare it first. If you don't have any enjoyment to
hide, you'll be fine!

To be sure though, we probably should think about splitting our group
and doing a free table (for soldering stations / safecast?) and a paid
table (THS kits & Dangerous Proto?)

Ummmm..

Starting to sound like bullshit.

Perhaps the appropriate response would be a low-cost, low-controversy
display referring interested parties to THS, FabCafe, etc.

Richard,

Tamura-san has been always helpful.
"Hideo Tamura" <tam...@oreilly.co.jp>

I feel it won't be such easy-going-atmosphere this time. They changed rules and will treat all Makers same. But give it a try.

Renting Miraikan for 2 days (maybe and 1/2day for bringing in stuff beforehand) costs quite a lot, if it is a commercial event. I have tariff somewhere on my desk at home.
Splitting group into 2~3 would be good idea for reducing cost.

I say no.

This should be presented to Miraikan as a way for them to be cool.

In general, I think they are boring, so why do I want to pay them for
me to be cool?
