hi, I just joined the list because I thought it was a cool concept.
Is this open to first-timers?

Sure. Prob won't be much going on at the meeting other than hanging out and
drinking beer. Well, that and geek stuff like playing with circuit boards
and microcontrollers.

Wow…that was by far, the geekiest hackerspace meeting I have ever seen…

No actual meeting. People were just fighting for laptop space, PCBs were
flying everywhere, Phil was soldering in the corner, Dave's daughter
(Kiera?) was knitting on the chair, the class set of Tokyo Hackerspace
wireless boards were being used for instant messaging, and bizarre phrases
like "open ttyACM" and "vendor id is 0x03eb" were being thrown across the
room. I'd classify it as a geekfest.

Hey Simon,

Yeah, as Akiba said, pretty geeky. Also, Evan was trying to get his
Mac working with the THS boards, reading through the Atmel docs and
Nanri-san had sketched up the basic flow of the USB connection and
chips on the mini blackboard. Miang (sp?) also made some delicious
beef stew and there was wine and bread and cheese if you got there
early.

Was a good time. I don't think we really had a formal meeting,
although Dave and MRE were discussing grant proposals.

Good to hear from you. What's shaking in Hong Kong?

Amen to what everybody else said. Food, fun, and geekitude all in
great abundance. Kira had a great time.

yeah.. I was shocked and surprised.
Tuesday rocked hard.

One more for the end of the year!!! Who is in for the 29th?

Does anybody have the contact details of the person who visited from
Hong Kong and was interested in setting up a coworking space?

MRE - why wait until the 29th? I hear it's business as usual on the
25th in Japan, so less slacking, more hacking!

I had a fun trip to the hospital Wednesday (two and a half days of
pain), which suggests that I should take it easy.
So.. yeah. for me.. not leaving the house much this weekend.
Monday I pick up my brother from the airport.. need to be well rested.

As for the contact:
I have his info around somewhere.. Will be cleaning up the house this
weekend. Once I come across it, I'll send it off to you.
