Cloud hosting options in Japan?

Hello all,

I'm wondering what the current options are for cloud hosting in
Japan? I would love to use something like Rackspace Cloud, but I fear
the latency would be too high since I'm working on a Japanese project
right now.

I'm actually a Rackspace customer (managed hosting) for my web app
http://peashootapp.com - but this has a US/Western audience.

Is anyone using a good cloud host in Japan? Or is anyone using a US-
based cloud host and experiencing satisfactory network speed in
Japan? I need a primer - I have no idea who the key players are in
the Cloud space in Japan...

hi, Jon-san,

unfortunately, there is no well-known data center as "cloud" in japan
as long as i know.
some japanese companies say that our service is cloud. however almost
they just only provide VPS, not the programable function like Web API.
the word "cloud" has succeeded in commerce also in japan. japanese
businesses stretched cloud, and redefined their existing service.

amazon ec2 is scheduled to come to singapore in the first half of
2010. this can be expected.
