Hi all, I'm a Ruby developer from the UK and I'll be in Tokyo in about 10 days time.
It'll be my first time in Japan, so greatly looking forward to it, the birthplace of Ruby!
I'm not sure any of your meetups coincide with my two week visit, but it would be great to catch a drink with any of you.

A bit about me: Ruby/JS developer, traveling for a year, writing a book for O'Reilly on JavaScript App Development as I go.

Thanks! Alex

Hi, Alex!

Welcome to Japan!
My name is Akira Matsuda (@a_matsuda on Twitter), the leader of a
Rubyist meetup named "Asakusa.rb".
Actually I knew you are coming to Japan (because I've been following
you on Twitter), and we were just talking about inviting you to our
next meetup.
We have weekly "Ruby Tuesday" meetup, so the next one will be held on
Feb. 8th (Tue) evening.

We hope you can make it, and really glad if we can hear the latest
news on Juggernaut 2 :)

Cheers!

Hi Akira,

Sounds great, but unfortunately I'm not arriving till the 10th - maybe can meetup with you guys at another time?

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I'm Paul, the organizer of Tokyo Rubyist Meetup. We haven't scheduled
an event yet this month, but I can pull one together in short notice.
Could you give a presentation on Juggernaut if I pull together a
venue? I'm thinking tentatively the 16th. How would that work?

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Alex,

OK then, how about the 15th?
Or, of course I'm ready to have a drink with you or show you around
Tokyo at the weekend if you prefer :)

Cheers,

Akira

Hi Alex,

My name is Beck and I assisted to organize the 1st Tokyo Rubyist
Meetup last year in September, after a great-grande-wonderful
RubyKaigi 2010 at the end of August.

I used to live in central Tokyo for more than a decade, but a few
months ago moved to a nearby city -- Kamakura, which is a small
seaside city within less than an hour train ride from Tokyo. Kamakura
has mountains, a beach, shrines, temples, and a unique start-up that I
want you to invite to.

If you would be interested in learning about energetic start-up and
combine that experience with sightseeing, than I would be more than
glad to show you around.

If Paul and Akira agree, we can hold some kind of a weekend event in
Kamakura. I can guarantee organizing the hardware (infrastructure)
part. Otherwise, you can visit alone. Our team has 2 prominent
JavaScripters and a few Ruby enthusiasts.

Please let me know what you think.

Best regards,
Beck

Absolutely, sounds great. Paul, Akira, what do you think about the weekend event? Although it's short notice we might be able to organize some additional talks or a hack evening?

Alex,

BTW, how long will you be staying in Japan?

Sounds good. Kamakura would be a nice place to visit for a tourist.
Meet Big Buddha there!
I would like to join the event if I can, but not sure ATM because
Kamakura is a bit far from where I live...

I'll be there two weeks, before flying to Sydney.

Hi Beck,

Great to hear from you after all this time.

Were you looking to do this under the trbmeetup banner? I'd be happy
to promote it as such. Although our event has been on weeknights
before, I've had some people tell me it would be better on weekends,
so we might get a different crowd.

If we are doing it on the weekend, the 19th would be my preferred date.

Cheers,
Paul

Paul, thanks for emailing.

Can we discuss this over the like tonight? I don't really mind doing this event
under any banner. My point is holding this event in Kamakura. It takes about 50
minutes to travel from Tokyo, but I can guarantee everyone will have fun. :)

Cheers.
Beck
