Welcome to toki pona. o kama pona tawa ma pi toki pona!
Rules. The topic is toki pona, so anything about toki pona or in toki pona is on topic. Feel free to post in any "background" language, English, French, Russian and Esperanto seem to be the most common languages for tokiponists to understand.
Decorum. Please be polite.  Toki pona has plenty of opportunity for misundertanding. o toki e ni: mi pana e pona tawa sina tawa pali sina. Say thanks.
Expect to be corrected. This is just a common shock to people new to language learning communities. You might ask where the restroom is and all you get are corrections to your grammar, spelling and word choice.  The reason is because no one is here to get real work done, we're here for entertainment and recreational learning. Imagine that everything you post is wrapped in "Is it correct to say..."
Off topic. How you don't like mailing lists, or responding to grammar questions by discouraging people from using a mailing list is off topic and is rude. It is rude because you have read the guidelines of expected behavior and decided to violate them anyhow. And it violates Gricean maxims and that is the worst of all.
