Hello all,
The end of April means two things: re-enrollment (get those forms in!) and the beginning of Tokabats season! As many of you know, there is a casual intramural summer softball league in Princeton where teams from various university departments play against each other in the evenings, fueled by beer and the ceaseless cicada symphony. I can assure you that it is a lot of fun, whether you want to relive your Little League glory days, or simply drink outside on a Tuesday instead of in dark, empty dbar.
In the past, we have had our own team (the Tokabats), but we have fallen on hard times and last year merged with the Coprolites from the EEB/GEO/AOS departments. I had a blast with them last year, so we will be joining forces with them once again. Hopefully in the future there is enough interest to revive our own team, but it didn't seem like we were going to have enough people for that this season.
The season lasts from mid-May through the end of July, with games about 1-2 times per week at 5:45 PM. I want to emphasize that there is no experience necessary to play. There are complete beginners who join every year and fit in great. The league is pretty laid back, with a wide skill variance: if you can throw and catch consistently, you are probably within a deviation of the average. If you considered yourself "good" at baseball/softball/cricket at any point in your life, you are probably 1-2 deviations above the mean.
If you are interested in playing, just let me know and I will get you added to the Coprolites email list. I can also answer any questions/etc that you may have
