ASim will react to low motives through urgencies. When a need becomes too low, a Sim will have a thought bubble with the image of that need over their head and will make a motion, such as holding themselves if they need to use the bathroom, or by clutching their stomach and pointing at their mouths when hungry.

Sleeping Sims with low needs often have nightmares about the low motives. Sims with low needs tend to wave at the player and complain, and will not learn any new skills until their mood improves. They will also refuse to do several actions. Visiting Sims whose needs fall too low will leave in order to fulfill them.

If a motive is not fulfilled and is fully depleted, motive failure will occur. This will have major consequences to the Sim. In The Sims: Livin' Large, if most of the family members are in a bad mood and the Tragic Clown painting is on the lot, the Tragic Clown may pay a visit.

When Sim needs are high, a Sim will be Happy, unless something happens to cause another emotional state. When Sim needs are low, a Sim will be Uncomfortable. Filled needs bars are green, low needs bars are red. To prevent uncomfortable Sims, fill needs when the bar is yellow.

If a Sim's hunger needs are not met and the hunger bar becomes empty, the Sim will starve to death. Before this happens however, the Sim will become Hungry, then Ravenous. Eating a cooked meal will generally fill up the hunger bar. Eating a quick meal will partially fill up the hunger bar. The hunger bar will deplete with time.

If a Sim's energy needs are not met and the energy bar becomes empty, the Sim will collapse on the floor from exhaustion and fall into a sleep that the Sim cannot be awakened from for a certain period of time. Before this happens, the Energy bar will turn yellow, then when it first turns red, the Sim will become tired, then exhausted. If a Sim in a pool collapses from exhaustion, it dies from drowning. To refill the Energy bar, Sims need to Nap or Sleep, either on a sofa, or on a bed.

If a Sim's bladder needs are not met and the bladder bar becomes empty, this is the equivalent of a Sim having a full bladder, and the Sim will wet themself, leaving a pee puddle on the floor, and reducing the Sim's hygiene need bar to 0 hygiene (empty hygiene needs bar). Using a toilet, a bush, or leaving a puddle on the floor refills the bladder needs bar.

If a Sim's hygiene needs are neglected, the Sim will become Grungy. If hygiene needs drop lower than Grungy, the Sim will have problems with Social interactions. To restore hygiene, a Sim must take a bath or shower. Certain types of showers can result in certain emotional states. A thoughtful shower, for instance, will result in an Inspired Sim. A brisk shower will result in an Energized Sim, and a Steamy Shower will result in a Flirty Sim. There are also some bath options that will result in emotional states.

If a Sim's social needs are neglected, the Sim will become Lonely, then Desolate. Lonely or Desolate Sims are Sad sims. Social interactions are necessary to join and maintain status in Clubs, which were introduced in Sims 4 Get Together.

If a Sim's fun needs are not met, the Sim will become Tense. Tense Sims are usually unable to use skill objects. Work can reduce fun need (especially if the option to Work Hard is selected), and the fun need bar goes down with time.

The fun, social, hygiene, and bladder needs decay very little and go back up super quick but the hunger and energy needs do not decay at all. I've tried resetting the sim by using McCommand center, doing resetSim first name last name, and rejoining the game. I don't know what else to try, any help?

I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.

Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.

I used the cheat to enable and disable (testing cheats, hold shift on sim) . I tried that before and after taking it out. I haven't downloaded any traits since I've been playing this household, but I did download some mods yesterday. I started playing the household the day before yesteday though, so I don't know if that would help.

I mean I assume this is unhelpful now but if that ever happens again, click "Modify in CAS" and then once you're in there dont do anything, just click accept. that worked for me. I had disabled the needs decay for a few days and then when I tried to enable it nothing happened. So I did that and now it's working fine.

Needs are your Sims basic necessities. If they are really full, they will earn bonus Simoleons/Experience for an action and each Sim will have green sparkles around them. The 6 needs are hunger, hygiene, bladder, energy, social, and fun. They all can be increased by doing an action that is related to the need (i.e. use the toilet to refresh bladder).

Hunger is the need represented by a crossed fork and knife. It goes down over time, and there is no way to lower it prematurely. It can be filled using items related to food (ex. the microwave, the fridge, the holiday meal tables).

Hygiene is the need represented by a bar of soap. It also goes down over time. However, it can be significantly lowered by shaking your device until your Sims vomit, and then cleaning it up. If your Sim swims in a dirty pool, the hygiene need will be lowered rapidly. The Hygiene need can be filled with bathroom items such as sinks, bathtubs, vanities, and showers. If a Sim's hygiene level becomes too low, a brown stink cloud will appear around them. If your Sim does not use the toilet, their Hygiene will also drop. Another thing that lowers the hygiene bar is performing the WooHoo option repetitively.

The only way to fill a Toddler's hygiene bar is in a bathtub and an adult or teenage Sim is required. The only way to fill a Baby's hygiene bar is by changing its diaper or having a baby go in a bathtub with an adult or teenage Sim.

Bladder is the need represented by a toilet. There is no way to prematurely lower the bladder bar. The bar can only be filled by using a toilet. If your Sim does not use the toilet, s/he literally makes a puddle of pee on the floor which must be swabbed up. This action also lowers the hygiene bar.

The Social need is represented by a speech bubble. Interacting with animals/other Sims, Living Teddy Bears, using phones and computers all fill the bar. There is no consequence for having this bar empty other than loss of extra Simoleons.

This need is represented by a dancing stick figure. It can be filled by numerous objects, far too many to list here. However, some notable examples are garden patches, TVs, books, stereos, tai chi, and toys for toddlers and preteens.

Every one of Sims 4's expansions and packs also has its own set of cheats. Usually, those cheats are tied to the jobs, deaths, and traits that are unique to that expansion or pack. With testingCheats active, you'll be able to move Sims between families, fill up their needs and happiness bars, dirty or clean up objects, and teleport Sims anywhere you like, among a few others detailed below.

Several different Sims 4 expansions have added different types of occult Sims. So long as you have the corresponding DLC, here's how to turn your Sims into your favorite kind of weirdo using the traits.equip_trait cheat:

One of the first things you might be compelled to do with Eco Lifestyle cheats is change your neighborhood's Eco Footprint. If you just can't stand starting out with an industrial neighborhood, use eco_footprint.set_eco_footprint_state with one of these numbers:

Get your teen Sims through (or kicked out of) school with these cheats for graduating and getting expelled. These are all handled through the trait system, so you'll use the cheat traits.equip_trait [trait] to help them graduate, get expelled, or drop out:

Like other traits, you can use traits.remove_trait to get rid of each as well. You can find more Highschool Years cheats for careers, skills, and personality traits in the tables below.
