Hello all,

Just seeking out some advice from those of you with experience or
knowledge about photo printers. I have been looking at 3 Sony models
The UPCX1 which I like for the size and ability to print 4 x 8 with
perforations. The UPDR150 and UPDR200 which I like for the print
finish options and the speed (8 secs for a 4x6) but does not have
options for a 4 x 8 print. Which do you guys like/use/know anything
about or recommend? I have booked my first event in July and I am
going to buy the things I can and start building!

Thanks
Nick

Nick:

From my research and the people I have talked to the Sony UPCR101L is
the one most people use
Regardless of the one you select let me know. I have a connection to
get a price break, probably in the range of $200.00
on them. I have a friend who has many of them and loves them. As an
aside, the snaplab allows you to use it for more than phtobooth, so
you have other things you can sell

I would like to get a Sony UPCR101L for $200.00. I currently use a
Mitsubishi 9800 dye sub printer and it works great. I would like to
get the Sony for it has that perforated photobooth paper. Would the
Sony units be used units? How much for a snaplab?

Linda,
Is that printer with a $200 discount or the price would be around
$200? If it would not be of a bother, i would def be interested....

This is a discount of $200.00 more or less.  They are generally in the range of $1000.00.  Can probably get them in the range of 800.00.  If several of us are buying them at the same time, may be able to work aslightly  better deal.  If anyone thinks they are going to get one, let me know.  When we have a count I wall call my supplier.  You will be buying from him directly in a specific window of time.  But it is from a real company.  Not through me.

Linda,

Do you have a link to more information on the Sony UPCR101L that you
are talking about? I cannot seem to find it. At this moment I am sold
on buying the Sony UPDR200. Do you have any discounts on this model? I
am looking at a price of $1095.00, and media is $215 for 1400 prints
(2 rolls).

Thanks

Thanks

Ok - apparently I told you all a big fat lie.  The $200.00 discount was because Sony was running a special which ended at the end of last month.  At that time they were selling for $850.00.  My friend is notified and buys several wehn they are on special.  Right now they are selling for $1077.00  They run the specials from time to time.

To make this easier, the company I was talking to is called Kobi's  800-781-8002.  I did get the impression that if we group purchase we could get a deal, but likely would have to do all at one time.  They are very knowledgable.

Now - not to add more into the mix but I found out the UPCR10L and the UPCR20L can operate as stand alone independent units. Meaning they do not have to be connected to a printer.  They have a memory card.  According to my friend it allows you to use that printer and offer other services.

The X1 and the 200 must be connected to a computer

Though the 10L - if connected to the X1, then the X1 does not reuire a computer to operater - these 2 use the same paper
and the 20L if connected to the 200 (for sure) then the 300 does not require a computer - these 2 use the same paper
A photobooth typically has a computer, so the X1 and 200 will work in the photo booth connected the the computer.
So according to Orbis, if we are going to only use them for photobooth, then the x1 and the 200 are less expensive and would work fine.
They actually quoted me ore on the 200, so where are you pricing them.

Sorry for the confusion.

Here is a link to the 10l

Sorry, I meant if the 20L is connected to the 200, then the 200 (not the 300) does not need a computer

I personally use the Sony UPCX1 or Snaplabs. I find them to be
extremely portable and cost effective at about 9 cents a print and
output about 15 sec each print using standard 4x6". You can also use
4x8" or perforated paper but those cost more. Once you update the
drivers, you can also select matte or gloss and color/b&w/sepia
options.

Used/new units range about $400-800
