Just thought I'd throw a few tidbits out there about touchscreens to
maybe help others understand how they work and what they actually are.
(in laymans terms)
A touchscreen works as a mouse input.
It works directly through the Operating System, not a particular
program.
Having the proper touchscreen drivers for a particular touchscreen
controller for a particular operating system is what will determine if
it will work or not.
A "touchsreen monitor" is nothing more than a monitor with a built in
overlay like the one pointed at above, beneath that overlay is nothing
more than a standard monitor.
I can't vouch for any particular overlay "add-on", so I would
recommend reading any reviews available on a particular you may be
looking at. I can say you would be better off with a glass overlay
versus any type of acrylic. (better scratch resistance)
So if you have Windows 7, be sure their are Windows 7 drivers for your
touchscreen. If you have a Mac, be sure there are Mac drivers for your
touchscreen. Etc, etc. (or for any touchscreen you are potentially
looking into buying)
I have several touchscreens, different sizes, different makes/
models..... I can make all of them work with this Photobooth software
as it is now. (even with the screen offset due to the resolution
issues)
Quite fun to play with actually, can be used for a lot more things
than you initially think about. (games, surfing the web, whatever)
If it's on-screen and "clickable"...... you can use a touchscreen.
