Here is a question for those of you with photobooths right now.

In a" normal" photobooth, when the images are saved at an event and
burned to DVD or flash drive are they saved as individual images
individually or are the saved in the template?

Normally do yo have to go to the folder on the harddrive and move them
over or is there a commmand such as save event ot DVD. What happens
when there are to many images for one DVD?

You guys are going to love this template builder. It is genius.

Ok, so right now, the images that are given to a client are the final
ones like thenonea that are printed... So it's savesto a template... I
personally don't give them the individual photos... Also, you have to
go out of the program and into the folder in which you saved them to
and save to the cd/DVD... I hav still to have to many to fit on cd,
but DVDs would def have enough space to burn all the photos you will
have from an event....
I think having a button that u can make the DVD right from the program
would be awesome...

Just wondering how much longer before the program comes out? Will tere
be free updates or is that something that we willhave to pay for? Not
rushing, just wondering... I have an event this weekend and would love
to have it for then... I can't wait! I know u mentioned u have an
event also... :)

The software likely will not be ready.  I had to suck it up and buy the HP computer to run tofurious to make sure I could do the event,  I really didn't want to buy anymore equipment.  We may have a beta by then,  I agree about the burn to cd button.

the booths I built save all of the images individually and as a
printed out copy of the night which I copy to a usb drive while I am
packing up the booth and give it to the client on the night, I use
canon s series cameras with the popup flash which means all of the
images are nice and clear when we first setup our booth with out flash
the majority of images were blurry so we developed a front clear cover
that allows us to utilise the flash. We also use Kodak 6800 and 6850
printers because people do not want to be standing around waiting for
prints... On our first booth we used a printer that printed in around
40 secs and we ended up with huge crowds of people waiting around and
this was not good, now by the time the the next people have finished
in the booth the people waiting for their print are already gone....
On a general hire out night of about 4 hours we print around 150
prints the kodak can do 750 prints before it needs to be replaced it
also weighs abot 30 kilograms (Heavy little sucker) which helps in the
stability of the booth and to hard to steal!!! Just some thoughts! I
have been running my booths for about 18 months and had no problems
with them I have 3 at the moment and another nearly ready.

Hi Mike,
What software are you using right now?  Do you have pics of your booth?  We want to build one, but are still looking for the best and most portable design.  Would love to see yours.  What computer are you using? I'm going to go check out the Kodak 6850 today.  It's between that and the Sony Snap Lab.  Thanks for your help,
Lynn

We have been doing this since start of 2008 and currently have 7 photo
booths with three different styles for different price points for our
clients. My images are saved by date and then separated into event
prints and single images. I had a little app that would auto put all
the images in the directory selected to the "burn to disk" so at the
end of the event, one could just hit burn. However, I did not like
this model and quickly changed the package. No DVD or USB as a
complementary, instead we offer a hosted digital download link of ALL
the images for $10. Our clients love this since they can just forward
the link to family and friends quick and easily. The link expires
after 3 months or they may choose to delete it themselves. I
personally like this as I am not having to carry DVDs etc trying to
get the images to burn/transfer in a decent timeframe or incurring
extra costs on the consumables.

Mike - Per printer: why did you chose the Kodak? What is the print
time for a standard 4x6" in seconds and the cost per a print on avg?

You know what? I think thats a great idea you have done with your hosting and no dvd... i do both personally.... my clients like having that option.... Obvously you have more experience with 7 photobooths and having been doing it since 2008... i have been doing it just about a year now... i think different things work for different people, but sometimes incorporating other ideas helps :D Thanks for that suggestion :D

Hi Guys...

The kodak 6850 printer will print a 6x4 in about 6 seconds and cost
about 6 cents au$ per print... We chose the kodak for a few reasons
and the main one was that we could do 750 prints without touching it
and the speed was the fastest we could find at the time, we found a
kodak photo lab closing down and bought all of their printers, we were
worried about the size and weight but designed the new booths around
this and used the weight to our advantage. We dont use webcams because
of quality and when you get people having fun in the booth they are
often moving so more often then not it will be blurred so we created a
Clear cover for the front to protect the camera but utilize the flash
on the camera, we also power the camera with ac power. At the end of
the event we copy the individual and the layout copy to a usb drive
(Cost about $12) while we dismantle the booth usually takes about 5
mins we give this to the client before they leave, we were putting
them online but some images were a bit rude and were worried about
under 18 year olds veiwing the site and getting in trouble with adult
content etcetera.

That's awesome!
I use the Mitsubishi CP9800DW printer, within 6 seconds, I have prints.
Die sublimation printers rock.  Good quality, very heavy, but keeps the flow of people in and out of the booth.
I also, do not use the webcam, I use another software, but I use my Canon 5D Mark 2, flash system and live view.
Would love to know who you are using.

Christina
