This is a fabulous service you are providing - uncomplicated, easy to understand. I signed up to use it for our SilvaCourses.com domain.

Now I need to get Toffeelinks to work with the Download Guard program that we use for delivery of digital our downloads. The system is set up so that PayPal returns the information about the sale to DLG via the Instant Payment Notification. The PayPal receipt number is used as the customer's password so they can download the product.

With other scripts we add the "Order Notification Script" to each item that we sell, in a box labeled "
Extra text/HTML code to be added to download page." I did that, then I made a purchase, but my purchase wasn't registered.

Then I added the order notification script directly to the custom download template that I use - it is what ClickBank calls a Thank You Page. I place another order, still wasn't registered.

Then I thought that maybe it is because the DLG script and the Thank You pages are on a different domain, so I added silvashop.com to the "domains used" field, and made another purchase, with the Order Notification Code still in both places. That sale wasn't registered either.

I didn't know what else to try, so I removed the Order Notification Script from both places, refunded the 3 test purchases, and decided to ask you for help.

Here is a sample script that another program uses with DLG. Maybe I need to specify what DLG calls the "Order Amount" and "Order ID"? It looks like they are
%%customerreceipt%% and %%productprice%%

<img src="http://your_affiliatepro_url/callbacks/callback_sample.php?txn_id=%%customerreceipt%%&amount=%%productprice%%" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" />

I am not smart enough to figure these things out, so if you can guide me to get Toffeelinks working with DownLoad Guard I would sure appreciate it.

If you could send me the exact script to use, I will test it, and when we get it right, you can post it so that other DLG users can also use Toffeelinks.

If you need to know more about DownLoad Guard: dlguard.com/

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Hello, Ed,

Thank you for using ToffeeLinks and for contacting me!

I am out of Warsaw at the moment, but I will take a closer look at this issue tomorrow, once I get back, ok?

We will find the solution, that is for sure!

Thank you,
Best regards,

Tom

Thank you Tom, no hurry.

I was just looking at how ToffeeLinks work - I love that affiliates can add a specific url to the end of the link and send visitors to a specific page.

One question: We have 2 different commission rates - 50 percent for digital products that the customer downloads (they account for most of our sales) and 30 percent for the physical version (CD/DVD). The result is that the affiliate receives the same amount of money for a sale of the physical version or the download.

Since ToffeeLinks will calculate commissions for all of our products at 50%, can we adjust the commissions owed for the physical products after the sale?

Thanks.

Hello, Ed,

There is a "goals" functionality at ToffeeLinks - here you can define two separate goals, one for digital and one for physical product and assign different commissions for them. So it looks pretty OK to manage this issue, I think.

This functionality has never been published on help pages, but when I get back I'll send you detailed instructions, how to run this.

I am out of office now, only with my iPad, and for development work I still need my iMac :).

Btw: I attended a Silva Course (basic level) in May this year :).

Thank you!
Best regards,

Tom

Hello Tom,

No hurry at all... I keep thinking of new ideas, new ways to use ToffeeLinks.

The feature that allows us to add a landing page url to the end of the affiliate link - I could put the link directly to the checkout page couldn't I?

I set up web sites for our Silva UltraMind ESP System Instructors, and we have all of our products on there. If I use a Buy Now button (jpeg) linked to the checkout page with their affiliate link, then the Instructor would be guaranteed to get the commission.

When I set up a new web site, for a new Instructor, all I would need to do is to replace the "publisher's" ID on each of the Buy Now buttons. I am doing that now with another affiliate program that costs us a lot of money and does a poor job.

If that will work, then the next question is: Does the checkout page need to be on the same (silvacourses.com) domain?

At the rate I am asking questions, you will soon have a large users manual.

Congratulations on taking the Silva Course. Which one did you attend? There are some news ones now, created after Mr. Silva's passing. We still teach the ones he authored himself. Who was your Instructor?

When you have a chance, check out our Sales Power program, you might find it very useful.

As I said, take your time... I will keep thinking up new ideas and new questions for you.

Better and better

Hello, Ed,

I am finally at home :).

The Product Page (the one that an affiliate link leads to) should start with one of the registered domains. That is for sure. Otherwise the affiliate link will show an empty page.

The Thank-You-For-Order page (the one that Notification Script is to be put) does not have to be at the same domain as the registered domains.

I guess I'll need to understand better your affiliate structure :). It seems not clear to me at the moment. Can you tell me, which sites are merchants and which sites are affiliates?

Also: can you send me the script you placed at Thank-You pages? Can you send me a source of such a page after successful purchase?

Silva: I had a basic course, I guess :). I attended it in here, Warsaw. The coach was Andrzej Wójcikiewicz.

Sales Power program: good idea - once I set up TF properly ;).

Thank you!

Hi Tom,

Good news: I got it! You were right all along - your code is okay, there was a line missing from the Download Template that puts the information on the download (thank you) page.

For some reason I am not able to View Page Source - but... as you can see, it worked and the tracking is now Tested and okay.

Now I guess I have to go add that line to all of my Download Templates.

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Now I see a new problem: When I go back to the download page again... ToffeeLinks registers it as a new sale. I did it once more just to be sure, and now it indicates 3 sales - but there was really only 1.

All 3 are for the same Order ID, so I hope it will be an easy fix, so it won't register the same Order ID more than once.

Some of our albums have a lot of downloads, so people download a few to get started, then go back later and download more.

It is all looking good so far.

Thanks.

Ed

Hi Tom,

I still don't know what I am doing. The code that I added to the Thank You page is the code to add the Download buttons to the Thank You page. I don't want that so I took it back off.

Before I did, I went to the Thank You page again - Refreshed it - but it didn't register with ToffeeLinks. It shouldn't register again of course, so maybe you fixed that.

But that leaves us back where we started - the sales didn't register on ToffeeLinks until after I added the code to put the download buttons on the Thank You page. That doesn't make any sense to me.

I added the tracking code to a few of the products, so let's wait until somebody buys one of them and then see if it gets registered. I presume the sale will register whether there is an affiliate or not? Oh... maybe there was already a ToffeeLinks affiliate cookie on my computer from what I was doing previously.

I will wait now, and not do anything else until you tell me to.

Thanks.

Ed

Hello, Ed :),

   I got lost :/.

Please tell me, where exactly did you put that notification script?

Can you send me an URL to that page? Or the source of that page? I need to make sure the script is there. If it is not, the tracking will not work.

The script should be visible in the page source, so it is easy to check.

I recently bought that item for $0.10 and did not find tracking script in the source, but maybe I chose the wrong product.

Thank you!
Best regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I put the script in the Extra HTML/Text box on the Product Description page.

That is how it is done in Download Guard. It does not go onto a page.

If you look at my account, you can see that the sale was registered... 4 times. Each time I went back to the page it registered the sale again.

Let's not worry about it any more. I think we need to get Post Affiliate Pro, it does a lot of things that will help us a lot. If you figure out how to get this to work with DLG, it could be useful for some of the sites where we sell our products in other currencies.

Thanks.

Ed

Hello, Ed,

Ok, so the tracking is working and the only problem right now is that the sale is registered each time the Thank-You page is displayed, right?

This behaviour has been left purposely. I wanted to register every legit Thank-You page display.

Since each order notification contains ORDER ID, it is easy to identify the multiple page refreshes (they all have the same ORDER ID) both for the MERCHANT and for the PUBLISHER and exclude (use statuses other than CONFIRMED) them from the sale commission payment.

Moreover, I guess this does not happen this often. I am using TL myself for my websites, and, so far, I had such a situation just once, I think.

Hi Tom,

I think it might happen a lot for us. We have many downloads in each of our home study courses, and a lot of additional information on the download website, so people often go back. Sometimes they only download the first couple of sessions, then go back later to get more. Sometimes they go back to see the artwork of the Scale of Brain Evolution chart or the 3-Scenes Technique to help them understand how to do it.

Regardless, even once would be too much for me. I don't want to have to check every order that is listed to see if it has already been registered previously. Can you imagine - somebody downloads all of the recordings and two or three weeks later discovers that one of them was corrupted during the download. That means that every "sale" that is listed, I would have to go back and check all previous sales to see if it is a duplicate.

I am very lazy - I much prefer that the software do all of the work.

Better and better

Hello, Ed,

Well, the sales report is intended to post-process in Excell / OpenOffice, and there you eliminate the duplicates easily :).

But I understand you just do not like this feature, and it is Ok :).

Wow... I sure am ignorant. I have no idea what "post process" means. I don't have or know how to use Excel or Open Office. I just look to see what I owe each affiliate and pay it.

Hello, Ed,

Hmm, I did not mean that and never suggested something like that.

It is just ToffeeLinks - it is probably too simple to match your needs. That's all, I guess.

Best regards,

Tom
