So I have made this custom pattern which you can see above. When i clicked on the shape and selected the swatch pattern, this is what I get.
Maybe I can just play with scale to center the pattern within the frame, will try that out.
After a few months, that little spark turned into a little fire that made me feel excited to get up in the morning. At the time I was working 50+ hours a week and commuting an hour each way to work, so actually wanting to get out of bed in the morning was a somewhat unusual feeling for me.
I started making my first repeat patterns in that period and as soon as that process clicked, it changed the way I thought about drawing, painting, and digital art. I started seeing patterns everywhere and constantly wanted to stop what I was doing to sketch out an idea for a pattern.
One day at my soul-crushingly boring job in a museum where the temperature was kept below 60 degrees and there were no windows in my flourescently lit office, I was searching online for new jobs and discovered that Spoonflower was not only a 30 minute drive from my house but that they were hiring.
At the time I really only knew that they put patterns on fabric, but that was enough to convince me. I needed to be around patterns and people who liked to draw, so I basically ran out the door of my museum job to get there.
I showed him a few ways we could change the colors and layout of our motorcycles and how to make it for sale. It was the cutest little tutorial ever that turned into the beginning of a new life for both of us.
At the same time that our print-on-demand shops started growing into a respectable portion of our monthly income, I started teaching English as a Second Language online and taking clients from around the world for 1-hour private lessons.
We chose a date a few months ahead, and started making plans for moving to Thailand. My husband (a spreadsheet fanatic) had already figured out that we could live on less monthly income in Thailand and finally spend the amount of time it would take to build new life where we worked for ourselves and worked when we wanted to.
Getting on that airplane was one of the scariest things we ever did, not for fear of flying but because it meant leaving everything we had known behind, quitting our jobs, and cutting all ties for a big crazy dream.
I decided to find out if iPads really were the digital magic they seemed to be and after negotiating with a Thai teenager at a used technology desk in a possibly illegal market somewhere in ChiangMai I walked away with my first iPad.
Within a week I knew I needed to teach a class on it because it was simply too amazing to keep to myself! I had no expectation for what would happen when I posted my classes, but when Skillshare sent me my first payment of almost $3 whole dollars, I knew what that meant. That $3 was just as valuable as the $2 we made from our little motorcycle pattern not because of the monetary value but because of the meaning: this was evidence that it was working.
Behind the scenes, I was so beyond excited that I had found a way to get paid for making art, that I kept thinking it was going to go away. I kept my multiple part-time jobs wayyy too long before finally going full time with my creative work. The moment I told my bosses I was quitting and went 100% full-time creative was one of the scariest yet most freeing moments of my life.
I make patterns and illustrations for a living, and have the opportunity to choose which art licensors sell my work. I get to work with creatives like me who are working to improve and grow their creative practice, and I get to help other people realize their own creative dreams.

My work is inspired by my laid back Sunshine Coast lifestyle, where my memories are so fondly captured from years of family holidays. All of my work embodies a bright and beautiful aura that I inject into every design and illustration.
As a qualified Graphic Designer (and Interior Designer) I have a strong focus on textile design, pattern design and wedding stationery. I work very closely with my clients to bring their designs to life in a way that is unique to them.
As all our goods are especially printed and personalised products, there is a no return policy. Being predominantly a paper product, they are prone to slight wear and tear and should be treated with care. All our goods are packaged very carefully when sending to prevent any damage in transit. Insurance can be added to postage for an additional fee, please contact us for prices.
In the event of spelling mistakes or an error in information provided, if the client has been given final artwork to check and has approved the error, a re-print can be arranged at the full cost to the client. Where the fault is deemed to be with Cass Deller Design, the cost will be absorbed by us.
In these Terms and Conditions \u201Cwe\u201D and \u201Cus\u201D mean Cass Deller Design Pty Ltd, and \u201Cyou\u201D means you the customer. These Terms and Conditions together with your order constitute the entire contract between us and you for the supply of products. No other Terms and Conditions will apply. The contract cannot be varied unless we agree to vary it in writing or by email.
If you are under the age eighteen (18) years you can not place orders with Cass Deller Design. By accepting these Terms and Conditions you acknowledge that you are over the age of eighteen (18) years. Should Cass Deller Design suffer any damage or other losses as a result of a transaction entered into by a minor, Cass Deller Design reserves the right to seek compensation for such losses from the parents or guardians of the minor who caused any order(s) to be placed with Cass Deller Design.
When you place your order, we will issue you with an invoice number and itemized list of the products purchased. We will do this by email. By placing an order, you agree to purchase the products you have selected based on these Terms and Conditions. Information contained on the Cass Deller Design website constitutes an invitation to treat. No information on our website constitutes or should be deemed as an offer by us to supply any products, however Cass Deller Design will make every effort to supply products to you. We will notify you that your order is being processed by sending you an order confirmation and tax invoice via email, however, we do not formally accept your offer until your order has passed our internal validation procedures for verifying the bona fides of each order placed, for the purpose of preventing credit card or payment fraud. Cass Deller Design Pty Ltdand its affiliates reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders in their sole discretion. We will confirm acceptance of your order when we send you an email confirming shipment of the goods you have ordered.
Cass Deller Design currently accepts Visa (credit and debit cards), MasterCard (credit and debit cards) and American Express. We process credit card payments after you click the \u201CSubmit Order\u201D button. For credit card payments we will email a tax invoice to you with your order confirmation. Your tax invoice is your proof of purchase. Please note:
Debit cards and cheque cards have daily spending limits that may substantially delay the processing of your order.
You may be required to provide further identification for additional security reference checks.
If your order changes throughout the design process, we may send you an invoice prior to printing for the additional items. If the number of items is reduced, Cass Deller Design may need to issue you with a refund. This will be assessed on a client by client basis.
Cass Deller Design always seeks to list products with the most competitive prices (all prices are in Australian dollars.). Cass Deller Design reserves the right to change prices for products displayed on our website at any time.
Whilst DreamDay Invitations employs the latest in Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology software for its transactions with our customers, DreamDay Invitations will not be responsible for any damages, consequential losses (whether direct or indirect) suffered by a customer whose credit card is fraudulently used or is used in an unauthorised manner.
Custom designed invitations and products will be quoted separately. Each order that is custom designed takes time and creativity. This is why we require a 50% deposit to cover design and layout time before we commence designing. There is a limit of up to 5 revisions per custom design. Any further revisions will be at an extra cost. Cass Deller reserves the right to use custom-designed pieces for future themes/layouts.
Changes can be made to our pre-designed stationery range to produce more personalised designs, please inquire with us about this service. As a guide there is a design fee of $80 per hour and you will need to allow an additional week for design time.
If you would like to personalise your invitations with guest names please supply us with your guest list as an excel file with all names typed exactly as you would like them to be spelt and written. eg. Mr & Mrs Jones, Sarah and David Jones, Sarah & David. And for place cards one name per line or cell, eg Sarah, David, etc.
It is important that you ensure all spelling, punctuation and spacing is correct on your guest list as our printer uses an automated system and your list will be printed exactly as supplied. Any errors supplied by clients on their lists will be reprinted at the clients expense.
Once your approval has been received, your job will be sent to print and posted out to you. Please allow at least 14 days from approval of your proof to delivery. (A timing estimate will be sent to you upon approval).
