I decided to try this as I have 16gb of RAM (win7, FX8350, 16gb ripjaw, etc.). There was no difference in load time and RAM usage remained the same? I even tried restarting desmume after making the change. Talking 15% RAM usage at PC idle, and 17% usage with desmume running (Radiant Historia for my testing) while loading rom entirely to RAM as well as loading by default? Is this that fairly normal? I'm not seeing any difference in RAM usage nor load times, and the setting check box is definitely selecting between the 2.
So desmume was running fine before, but now whenever i play in fullscreen via maximize button or alt+enter command it starts getting laggy and choppy, when windoved its fine, but i want full screen for recording.
I tried deleting the ini file, and instead of 0.9.11 try the 0.9.10, the problem still persists
Hello everyone! I'm an avid desmume user and i've played a lot of games with it. I have the latest version which is the 0.9.7 and it is really a great emulator.
But then it just happened that one day when i tried to open the emulator, the display of the emulator is just gray screen which is very unusual for i often see white screen and when i try to load some rom, i can hear sounds and stuff but it's still gray.
i clciked on the tool>display method> and changed it from DirectDraw HW to Direct Draw SW, it went back to normal but the graphics is too sharp and hurting to the eyes. It's the only option that i've done that made a difference.
can you please help me, this problem is really really really spontaneous i don't know what's the reason behind this thing...
Just recently installed desmume via software-center on the latest Ubuntu install (16.04.1). ROMs can be executed with the software and run smoothly. However, there are no options for saving game states, configuring, changing volume, etc. Anyone have an idea as to why I am missing these options? All posts and tuts of using the program have these settings included. I removed and reinstalled due to lack of better ideas. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, that's exactly the reason of the performance drop, I enabled the dynamic recompiler and I got better performance, but no as quite as before. BUT I reinstalled desmume with 'downgrade' and then upgraded it to 0.9.9-2 and it was just as fast as before. Very weird.
In 0.9.5, the default location for .dsv files changed. Older versions would use the rom directory; and now in Windows it is the directory that the emulator runs from; and in OSX/Linux it is /.config/desmume. In Windows, use the path configuration to point to wherever your .dsv files are or copy them to the new spot. If you've been running into problems with this you can probably verify it by searching for *.dsv on your hard disk and finding duplicates. Be careful when copying files around that you don't overwrite files unintentionally.
The latest development version of RetroArch DeSmuME core also has an option to increase internal resolution which can be set using desmume_internal_resolution in Core Options. This option was added in August 8, 2015 commit. This is massively CPU-intensive because only SoftRasterizer exists in RetroArch core.
