[Apostle Brigham Young Jr.]
[[At a meeting of the Twelve, which Young calls "one of the solemn days of my life," charges of Lasiv. Cohab., fornication and adultery are heard against Albert Carrington. Carrington confessed, and tried to argue that because he did not "mix the seeds" he was only foolish but not criminal. This had been going on for about 12 years commencing when Carrington was President of the British mission. "The Twelve sat as a high Council president Woodruff presiding, Each expressed their opinion & all agreed. President delivered judgement, accused guilty of all charge[s]" and Carrington cut off from the church.]] (4)

The subject of the celestial law of marriage [plural marriage] was dwelt upon. It was shown that the faithful must live it, otherwise they could not attain to a fulness of glory. The Lord has said that "it is not meet that men who have not observed this law should preside over His Priesthood." (5)

The Bishops were instructed not to recommend any person to any Temple unless they answered all questions in a satisfactory manner. If applicants perjured themselves then they were amenable to God for their acts. The subject of the celestial law of marriage was dwelt upon. It was shown that the faithful must live it, otherwise they could not attain to a fulness of glory. The Lord has said that "it is not meet that men who have not observed this law should preside over His Priesthood." (5)

"The Political Situation is quite critical the people generally being in the dark as to how they should they should (Sic) cast their vote. I have tried to show the necessity of maintaining the Republican supreamacy (Sic) here that we as a people may stand well before the Nation and brother Reed Smoot may have more backing in his fight...." "There was a splendid spirit present at all meetings especially at the Temple where many testimonies were born concerning Oliver Cowdry and his labors in the Church. Prest Jos. F. Smith said that one of our Church historians has been almost persuaded that Oliver had been deceiving the people in his statement concerning the Coming of John the Baptist and ordaining Joseph and him to the Aaronic Priesthood. The President said that these words which are reported to have been said by Oliver were put into his mouth by his enemenies (Sic) and his coming humbly back and applying for admission to the Church branded as false such statements." [Heber J. Grant]
This afternoon I borrowed my son-in-law Wallace Bennett's new Lincoln-Zephyr car and had a ride. I took with me Mrs. Anbrose McKay, widow of the former manager of the Tribune and who changed the Tribune from a vile, lying newspaper to a straightforward, fine newspaper. At the time President Smith died there was a very fine editorial in the Tribune telling what a wonderful man President Smith was. I met Mr. McKay that morning and told him I accepted that editorial as a complete cancellation of all the lies the paper had previously published, and would call the matter even. I laughed and so did he. (8)
