... You are of the Tribe of Caleb according to the manifestation of the Spirit; or a descendant of Caleb; and according to the blessings of thy lineage, are entitled to the blessings made to that Tribe ...
If you were sent to spy the land, you would not be afraid of the sons of Amos notwithstanding your infirmity; ... When you have power to heal, your enemies will say, heal yourself; and this is a word to strengthen your memory. You are entitled to the gift of prophecy; and shall have power to preach the Gospel of the kingdom unto many kindreds, nations and Tongues. For you shall have power to speak in a language which you know not... And in your day, shall the plates containing the Record of Mormon, and the Brass Plates, be brought into the bosom of the church; and also many other sacred records for the benefit of the Saints. ... I spoke of my dream I dreamed of dying & going to the place of the departed spirits. I saw Brother Joseph & Hyram Smith & many of the Saints who had died. They all appeared to be in a Hurry. I thought Strange to find them in A Hurry And I enquired the Cause. They informed me that the time was set for Christ to Come as the great Bridegroom to the Earth to meet the Bride the Lambs wife & they had not had time to prepare as those of other dispensations & Had to be in a Hurry in order to get ready. And when I awoke I was overwhelmed with a peculiar sensation at the view of the work the Latter Day Saints Had to perform in order to prepair the Bride for to meet the Bridegroom. (2)

I understand that Bro[ther] Solomona Piipiilani and Sister Maria Kamalo [Hawaiians] have gone to Logan to do some work for themselves and their dead. They are THE FIRST who have been privileged to receive their 2d An[oin]t[ing]s. And this will authorize you to allow Solomona and John Kamalo (deceased husband of Maria) to be adopted or sealed to Joseph [Smith] the Prophet if it reaches you in time, which I hope will be the case. This evening Brother Widtsoe read to Brother Ivins and myself some extracts from the sermons of Brigham Young. We made some suggestions as to eliminating certain parts from a book that is to be published of his sermons, for the Priesthood to study. We suggested that some parts be left out as they would create a great deal of discussion, in our judgement. (4)
