Election Day ... I deposited my straight Republican ticket. ... Before retiring I learned that the State ticket Republicans had won by about 30 votes.. 167 voted for Statehood and 43 against it, total 200. That is a light vote for Tooele. Democrats are dejected. (2)

Both male and female citizens of this state shall enjoy equally all civil, political and religious rights and privileges." (6)

[President Heber J. Grant]
I listened to the election returns. Off and on during the night I do not think I slept more than three hours. I am dumbfounded to think that the people of America have returned Roosevelt to the office of President. I thought of his running for a third term would snow him under. Politics does what I said it did many years ago. I said a bad dose of politics was like the measles if it set in on a man it turned his hide yellow and made him cross-eyed.. (8)
