ivetried everything i can find online to fix this but nothing has helped...i was wondering if there was a difference between older cables and newer ones? if not is there anyway to get this working? Its looking like my playing may come to an end
Crtl + Right click on the start button, open device manager, right click on the cable in the list and click" update driver", click "browse my computer for drivers", click "let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer", untick "show compatible", click on the "(generic usb audio)" category on the right and select "USB Audio Device" on the right. Then click next a few times to update the drivers.
Hmm since it's (probably) not a driver issue and it works on other devices I think it could be something caused by the usb slot on the pc but since a powered hub didn't fix either it I'm not too sure what else to try other than using some different usb slots since maybe the connection going into the pc is dodgy?
I tried that also and made sure all the ports were operational. I've heard that there is a difference between the older realtone cable which i have (came with rocksmith) and the newer one (the one that came with rocksmith 2014) do you think that getting a new cable might address the issue? Or are they in fact identical in nature?
I've been using one from rs2012 too and never had any issues, I doubt there's any major differences since they're all compatible with each other.
It might be worth trying a new cable but I can't guarantee it'll fix it since I've got no clue why it's not working on pc but fine on others/console. You could use the realtone cable for console playing and try an interface or other input cable for pc with rsasio/direct connect mods.
also, have you used this before? If so what was your experience? From what ive seen there is a little more than just plugging it in and going, apparently there is some adjusting of some files involved to trick the game into thinking it is running through a realtone cable which shouldn't be a big deal but it always seems the instructions to do this are focused towards individuals who are more familiar with this type of hardware. Are you aware of any indepth installation instruction of this interface for the purpose of using it with rocksmith other than whats on youtube?
Also, does using this interface bypass the rocksmith driver error / error 10 / hocksmith issue? In other words, when using this device what shows up in the device manager hopefully not the driver that hasnt been working for me. I'm assuming that it uses something totally different.
One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video was the fact that you have to download the drivers for the Focusrite Scarlett solo from the Focusrite website. I figured the drivers would auto install and that wasn't the case. (I would def get these drivers first) once I did this it fixed the aforementioned error. Everything else regarding setup was as per the video.
Glad I helped push you in the right direction haha! I haven't played my guitar in almost 6 months to a year I'm guessing. Either way, I went through the same ole boooooooosh*t you were going through, and I said the hell with it, and went and bought a Scarlett 2i2 and never looked back What would be nice is if you had a y splitter, and another PC, or a PC strong enough to run an AMP simulator like Neural DSP Fortin Nameless in the background! Just turn the guitar sound down on the game, so you'll still hear the song playing, but your guitar tones come from the Amp sim! (; There's alot of guys that use things like this. Check out youtube, or Twitch! I would get on Twitch occasionally, and see some guys playing and I'm like WTF! My shit doesn't sound like that lol! Cheers bro!
This christmas I picked up a copy of the game Rocksmith. This half-game/half-tutor allows you to connect a real guitar to a console or PC and is basically Guitar Hero with a proper instrument. Unlike Hero all the time you invest in getting better at the game actually builds real musical skills, rather than just coming away from it a highly talented coloured button masher.
You supply your own guitar and the connection is made by the Real Tone cable which is supplied with the game. Inside it is a Hercules board which converts the analog signal from the guitar into a USB digital stream.
But not only can this game provide a leg-up getting the motivation to learn, but the Real Tone cable also allows amp modelling sims to be used outside of the game. This is not something that is advertised by the game manufacturers but with a free driver, a little fiddling and a copy of Guitar Rig or Amplitube this is pretty easy to do. And a standard interface for connecting guitar to PC will cost around $100, so Rocksmith really is giving you some excellent value beyond what is already a great game.
Whenever a program starts using ASIO4ALL a little green triangle symbol appears in your system tray. Clicking this brings up the ASIO4ALL configuration menu. Here you should see your standard PC sound card (probably with a highlighted green symbol next to it indicating that it is the active selection) and your Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter (which will probably not be selected). Expand your PC sound card entry by hitting the + and exposing the inputs and outputs. What you want to do is arrange it so that it looks like mine below, with your PC sound card output selected, your PC sound card input deselected and the Rocksmith USB guitar selected.
Once this is achieved go back into Guitar Rig and make your input and output selections. These can be found under the Routing tab. You want USB Guitar Adapter as input and your PC soundcard as output.
If you strum your guitar and you see the input VU meter move then you know that output is a problem. If you can hear the metronome but when you strum the input VU does not move then you know that input is a problem.
Thank you so much for posting this!! 2019 and still highly useful!. Btw the ASIO4ALL config menu no longer has the plus signs in the settings when configuring the inputs and outputs, just clicking the wrench icon on the bottom right will bring up all the options.
Hi, I'm trying to record my guitar on the rocksmith real tone cable via Magix Music Maker, though its not picking up any sound even once I've selected it in recording setting, Music maker picks up my microphone fine but as soon as I try the tone cable its silent. The real tone cable picks up in windows and i can even hear sound from it in windows but music maker doesn't
I haven't seen any working solutions online for Magix Music Maker, anyone have any solutions
so I'm pretty sure the issue is that for whatever reason the Real Tone Cable won't transmit over WASAPI but it will over direct and Wave (recommend wave because it sounds less choppy) but the reason i could hear over wave and direct was because of the USB headphones.
thanks for the help.
I tried one of the really cheap ones and it was not worth it at any price. I had the official
Rocksmith Product and it seemed useable. I gave it to my daughter so I might try one again because it would be the simplest (i.e. least amount of parts to carry about). I have the really old headphone jack iRig (though I have misplaced it recently) and the newer iRig HD. The older one is still on amazon for $9.39... glad I checked. I'm going to pick up a couple. I just velcro an iPhone to the guitar and velcro one of these and plug my headphones right into the iRig and I can use Amp Sim's and AUM/FX on the iPhone. Since it uses the headphone I can also velcro a USB battery to the guitar and keep the phone running for hours. I can take walks and play backing tracks or iReal Pro and practice anywhere. The guitar cable to the iRig just needs to be at least 6 inches. I can also use the iRig to connector a condenser mic to the iPhone. I never tested using both USB iRig and headphone jack iRig at the same time for Mic and Guitar input.
You may be looking to learn how to play guitar. "Rocksmith,' which is a game/trainer that's produced by UbiSoft is a great way to learn electric guitar in the comfort of your home, but you'll need a specific 'Rocksmith' cable in order to play so that the game can recognize your tones. On eBay, you can find a wide variety of Real Tone cable packages, which will allow you to play single or multiplayer on this very useful guitar learning software.
