Hello Everyone,

This is the weekend. If you can't join us this weekend (STP riders), please get out for a long ride Saturday or Sunday.

I'll be leaving for Tahoe on Thursday morning, and have limited access to email. If you have any email questions, please send them by Wednesday night. Of course I'll have my cell phone with me.

Wednesday morning hill repeats will be an easy ride just like the other hill repeats this week.

1. This weekend's ride.
2. Tips for riding Tahoe.
3. Get that bike tuned.
4. Buy any necessary accessories now
.
5. Taper this week.
6. Get to Tahoe early and hydrate this week.

1. Tahoe is this Sunday. I can't wait for this weekend. You guys are gonna rock out there!!

Weather.com is forecasting a low of 39 and a hi of 75 in South Lake Tahoe and 43/75 in Truckee on Sunday. That means dress in layers. That means hydrate. That means wear your sunscreen.

If possible, don't wait until the last minute to get things done. You don't want to be scrambling on Friday night getting things packed, purchased and cleaned. When it comes to clothing, I bring everything for Tahoe. I don't know what exactly I'll wear until event morning. That's why I bring everything.

2. Here are some tips for Tahoe that I've heard over the years.
1.) Get your best night of sleep two nights before the event.
    2.) Listen to your coaches.
    3.) Remember your honorees.
4.) Enjoy the views. They are spectacular.
5.) Don't start out too fast/hard. You'll need that energy for Spooner and the Victory Party.
    6.) Don't eat/drink anything you haven't used in training.
7.) Bring a plastic bag in order to drop clothing. Write your name, number and Chapter on the bag. Courtney is usually stationed at the Truckee rest stop. You can pick up your clothes at the Victory Party. I wouldn't recommend you drop clothing that's irreplaceable.
8.) Go to the bathrooms first and keep your rest stops short.
9.) Control your speed on the bike path going to Truckee and on all descents.
    10.) Enjoy the experience.

3. If you're having any mechanical issues with your bike, get it tuned now. The person we recommend is Master Mechanic Tom Jelmyer of Velo Tech cycles. For contact information, check out their website at http://www.velotechcycles.com/contact.html

4. Buy your cycling accessories, supplies, clothing or food now. Don't wait until the last minute. You don't want to be driving all over town Friday night looking for that one item that works best for you.

5. Don't push the workouts this week. You're in taper mode. The coaches want you to be anxious to ride on Sunday. Save all of that energy for Tahoe.

6. Get to Tahoe early if you can. As you know, there's a lot to do there, and we're staying in a great hotel. Your group will have a shake down ride on Saturday afternoon. Ask your group coach/ride support when and where you'll meet. This ride is very beneficial to shake out your legs after a long drive. Courtney also doesn't want to chase you down late Saturday night trying to give you your reg packets.

You also need to hydrate more at altitude. Combine that with warm weather and riding a 100 miles means hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Any questions, let me know. See you in Tahoe.
