Hi Team,
Next week is the International Ride of Silence.  It is an annual, silent, slow-paced ride done internationally in honor of cyclists who were killed or injured by motorists.  Below is a story from Mary Ann Parker, the mother of a local cyclist who recently passed away.  Additionally, you may find more details about the event at www.rideofsilence.com.

Next Wednesday at 7pm, Coach Karin Jeffery will lead a ride from Bicycle Outfitter in observance of this event and friends who are now no longer with us.  The ride will be 12 miles long.

Please feel free to pass on to anyone you think may be interested.

Ride Safely,

Courtney

Hi, my name is Mary Ann Parker and I lost my son, John Eric Peckham,
to a driver under the influence of methamphetamine just last year
(September 8, 2006).  I am just wanting you all to know that there
will be a Ride of Silence to commemorate all the cyclists that have
been killed or injured by motorists who were either under the
influence or, just not paying attention.

There will be a  Ride of Silence in your area  (Mountain View) on May
16th.  It will be a short easy ride where you can just meditate and
think about how lucky you are to be alive given the numbers of people
that were in the wrong place at the wrong time.  You can contact the
organizer of the ride, Karin Jeffrey by e-mail at
kjbik...@gmail.com. Or you can click onto the website
www.rideofsilence.com

and click on CA and go from there.  I hope there will be some of you
that ride a bike that know that this is an important issue and that
will get out there for an hour on that one day to remember the ones
that are not as lucky to have arrived at their destinations as you
have done so far.  I wish you all the best and be safe.
Mary Ann Parker
Mother of a dead cyclist

Hi Team,

I have turned the tntvite ON for this ride so Karin can keep track of the number of riders. This is just like E-vite. Please go to the news section(or calender section) of our website and click on "Ride of Silence" and RSVP there.

Couple of things Karin wanted to convey..
(1) Helmets are mandatory, and
(2) Please do not to park in the parking lot behind the Bicycle Outfitter. We can park on side streets or in the Echo parking lot across Miramonte.

See you there!
