How to open the tree file produced by TNT in nexus format?

Hi everyone,

I tried TNT this afternoon with the simple way on linux (used the aquickie sricpt included), and got a 'aquickie.out' and 'aquickie.tre' file as the result. Somehow the aquickie.tre file cannot be opened in FigTree. FigTree says "missing closing ')' in the tree". But I counted the '(' and ')' in the file and they were equal. Can someone tell me how to open and adjust (such as branch rotating) the .tre file produced by TNT? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I know this is an old post, but for everyone with the same problem, what worked for me was to delete the # sing in the .tre file.

Hi Vinicius,

There is a very simple way to overcome this problem. Open your file in the TreeView (by Roderick Page) and save it with same name. Very likely it will open in FigTree and you do not need fix the file in the WordPad.

However you need to pay attention if taxname command is on (“=”); trees should be saved with names instead numbers (“*”) etc. Please, verify this old message in the group:
