Hello all,

Myself and a collegaue are currently both having some issues on multiple windows machines in setting the maximum RaM in TNT 1.6, and I was wondering if this was a known issue or if there were any fixes or nuances that we are missing.

On my machine (which has 48Gb of ram), I am able to reliably set the maximum ram to 1024Mb in both the GUI and using the mxram command.

I was able to get it up to 1089Mb using the command line, and saw in the 2021 documentation (Torres et al. 2021- Cladistics) that it caps at 1.8Gb on windows, though I don't know if that is still the case in version 1.6.

In any case however, I could not get it to that value in the GUI, and when using the xmult command, I had to "ratchet" the value upwards by setting it iteratively to 1024...1200...1400 etc.

My colleague is having a similar issue of needing to "ratchet" up the maximum Ram, but on two separate machines (one with 128Gb of RAM and the other with 64Gb), and he is unable to get the max RAM to reliably go above 512 Mb.

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this?

All the best,
Dalton

I can confirm a having the same issue regarding RAM. I haven't come across a solution, other than to roll back to a previous version of TNT and use the command line. Would love to know if there's a bug fix.

Hello Dalton,

I used to have this issue (32 Gb of RAM PC). In the TNT 1.6 Windows edition, the “mxram” were error if the input are more than 1,024 mb. I deleted the program and installed  TNT 1.6 Cygwin 64 instead. Now I can input up to 5,000 Mb of RAM.

Best regards,
Apirut
