I would think that the problem with benzodiazepines is the same as with
alcohol, you would need larger and larger doses to maintain the
desired effect. However, one would think that one Valium is a much
less amount for the liver to process than say a bottle of beer?
An then there are also the effects on the brain (in both cases).

We probably need a brain/liver expert to answer this.
