Just to explain why there are three messages above (after the first one),
that probably look blank to most people.
I experimented with embedding the online Picasa photo album slideshow of
Mrs. Newman's paintings, and the Youtube video, into the newsgroup post
itself. I tried two different ways of embedding the photo album, that's why
it appeared twice.
On first looking at those posts in my newsreader, Outlook Express, they
appeared blank, like it didn't work.
However, I figured out how to get it work (both versions of the photo album,
as well as the Youtube video), so I'll give directions, in case anyone would
like to see those embedded into the newsgroup message. (Of course you can
also see the same slideshow and video by clicking on the links in the
original message to this thread, with more options.)
Here's how to fix Outlook Express, in order to see the embedded slideshow
and video:
Go to the Tools Menu in OE, then select Options. Select the security tab,
then deselect the box that says "Block images and other external content in
HTML e-mail". (I think that box is selected by default, so you have to
de-select it.) (Even though this isn't e-mail, that box applies to newsgroup
messages as well.)
Click OK, go back to the messages above, re-open them, and you'll see the
embedded content.
I don't know if other newsreaders by default block embedded content in
newsgroup messages, but quite possibly so. So, in other newsreaders, also
look in the security options for a similar choice.
As said though, of course, you can see the same content just by clicking on
the links in the first message. But it can be kind of fun, to see the
content embedded in the newsgroup message.
