Hi All,

Happy New Year!

Our Accommodations Coordinator, Karen Parnell, sent this query to our SAIS listserv and we also wanted to pose it to this wise group.  If you have suggestions related to the question below, feel free to respond directly to Karen (cc'd here) and/or me!

Thank you!
Anna Claire and Karen

I am seeking recommendations for a math intervention program that might support an 8th grade student who has had chronic struggles with math over the years. She is currently taking Algebra 1 and has had a healthy dose of math tutoring throughout middle school. Her tutoring has paralleled curriculum work and it has been challenging to find a provider or program that can identify and address any foundational gaps that require attention.

Psychoeducational testing has ruled out a specific learning disability in math, but vulnerabilities in math fluency, executive functioning, and visual spatial processing impact the learning process.

If you’ve stumbled across an intervention program or provider that has been really pivotal in securing a foundation for math learning, I’d love to know more! We do not offer any in-house intervention programming at the MS level at this time, so we’re looking more for something that would be facilitated 1:1 or in a small group by an outside interventionist (in person or virtually).
