Dear Friends,

Water Scarcity is increasingly becoming the norm of the day regardless of the rainfall. I came across this interesting article on some of the US Cities which is facing and/or overcoming the water deficits.

Though Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have the distinction of being the most efficient water users of the country, much needs to be done. As most of the water bodies are being encroached or diverted and new roads or development projects divert the rain water into storm water or sewage channels, a problem in the coming years can be foreseen.

I request you to offer your remarks on this issue and suggest some of the ways  to increase the ground water table, rivers/channels management and sustainable water use for agriculture.

With regards
Arun Thayalan
