An interactive tmux course in the browser (corrections welcome)

[青木大]

Hi all,

tmux comes up often among the engineers I know in Japan. Many of them say the same thing: they would like to use it, but it is hard to start when nobody around them uses it.

I thought tmux would spread further if people could learn it right after the terminal basics, in the same place. So I made a tmux course on WebTerm Learn, a browser-based platform where you learn the terminal and command-line tools like a game.

 https://learn.webterm.app/en/courses/tmux-introduction

The course has 8 lessons, from detach and reattach to panes, windows, sessions, .tmux.conf and copy mode. Each lesson is a few slides and then an exercise on a simulated tmux modelled on tmux 3.7. It is free, with nothing to install and no sign-up.

WebTerm Learn launched a month ago. About 1,200 learners from 86 countries have registered and completed more than 20,000 lessons. The course made the same way for Herdr has only five-star reviews so far.

If anything behaves differently from real tmux, or teaches a habit you would not recommend, please tell me and I will fix it.

tmux is a wonderful tool. Thank you for making it.
