tmux server crashes

i have had consistent tmux server crashes with the following commits:
9ff017e9 fb774b77 82423975 66da51b6

as of commit 3c86fa2a (and prior), behaviour is as expected (no tmux server
crash).

this is occurring on ubuntu 20.10 with current patches as of 2021-01-20.

these crashes have also occurred on osx 10.13.6, current patches.

however, commit 9ff017e9 appears to behave as expected on windows 10, build
19041.vb_release.191206-1406 (cygwin, current patches).

i use identical tmux config files on all three of these platforms.

so, is this a bug introduced by recent changes? or have tmux config parameters
changed and i am out of date?

You need to provide more information, what is in the server log when you run with -vv? Is there a core file, what does the backtrace say? What are you doing when it crashes? What's in .tmux.conf?
