Hello TMS,
wow. what a great time we had last evening in the puter lab.
The PGCC students started showing up around 6pm.
They were eager to take advantage of the learning opportunity we afforded them.
We worked on several different projects under the leadership of Bill Lloyd.
Mr. Lloyd suggested how we should divide the projects among ourselves.
Some of us worked on the wiring in the lab.
Some worked on the laptops.
Some worked on the desktop machines.
Some worked on identifying surplus resources.
Everyone had an opportunity to rotate among the various workstations set up in the lab.

We finished the following:
6 desktop machines fully configured and ready to be setup in the classrooms.
6 laptop machines.
Wiring in the lab has been rerouted but not completly finished.
The area near the sink and two closets have been designated as surplus areas for extra materials.

We need to purchase some tiewraps for the wires behind each computer.
We need to purchase some long power strips for each table in the lab.

We will be back on Monday nite 12 nov2007 to work in the classrooms.
We will finish the wiring of the classrooms and all computers in each classroom.

Please leave notes on your machines of what programs you need installed.

Mr. Roman,

From the staff and students of TMS, thank you very much for your dedication to the vision. I’m glad we had an opportunity to chat a few moments prior to you and the PG team starting work on the computers. Your enthusiasm is infectious!

Have a great weekend,

Mr. Greening

Mr. Roman,

You are awesome!  Thank you for taking the lead on this.  By the way, how many power strips do you need?  Would a 7 outlet, 12-foot power cord surge protector do the job?

Ms. Williamson

Dear Mr. Roman (and in fact, the entire Roman family):

Thank you for moving TMS one HUGE step closer to compliance with the STAR chart and NETS.

Through your work and contacts you've also created another community service opportunity for TMS when we send out the call to the community to bring us their used computers, which will then be donated to Bill Lloyd's group.  Then there is the linkup between TMS and the school or school(s) in Tanzania that will receive the computers.  Just think, your leadership efforts will have international impact and open the world to hundreds of people.

This is manifestation (action!) of the TMS vision and a mark of distinction.  You've set the standard; now let's keep the momentum going!    Vision.  Determination. Results.

Thanks again.

Hello Lisa,
Yes that 12 foot power cord would be greatly appreciated and used wisely.
I thank you and you can leave it at the school properly labeled and we will make use of it.

Hello Robin,
Thank you for having the foresight to create yet another service opportunity for our TMS family.
I was so focused on the computer lab project, I forgot about the charitable component of our work.

I think we can make an announcement to our TMS families about the ideas we share on this and I can make arrangements to take the equiptment to Mr. Lloyd. Perhaps some of the donated items might be of service in our schools computer lab. I called Mr. Lloyd a few minutes ago and he likes the idea of community sharing of excess computer resources and his idea was to see if TMS could use the donations first.
Then of course his organization could use whatever resources TMS would care to donate.

I am glad we had time to chat this morning and you shared your ideas with me.
Its amazing how such a small window of time can allow huge ideas to grow.

Mr. Greening,
This is such a wonderful opportunity.
How could I not accept the challenge?
I get excited when I can take something and make it better.
My child is watching me.

Thank you for your leadership.

Hello Jackie,
You are welcome.
Our children will have the unlimited opportunities of the world and beyond when we finish this project.
We have the challenge of making them believe in themselves and knowing they can do anything.
Everybody involved is learning on this project.
I am having so much fun with this project.

Mr. Roman:

Did anyone take any pictures?  If not, can you arrange to take some on Monday.  Unfortnately, I cannot be there on Monday evening.  I believe we will be getting a snapfish account soon so that all photos can be uploaded and shared.  Step 1 of that process, of course, is asking that all parents sign releases for any photos that may contain their kids' images.  Then we will have a ready resource for photos featuring TMS.

I think Monique Rush, Board Member, mentioned setting up the snapfish account; however, I think this would be a great project for the technology committee to set up and for the media/history committee to maintain.
