Need Parallel Port for Laptop

Hi Guys

I have in my office a new laptop without parallel port..
But i need the presence of a parallel port to be detected by a software.

I tried an usb to parallel converter but it doesn't create the parallel port
in the device manager.

Would pcmcia card work ?

Any recommendation ?

mac is awesome and all, but nothing* beats a well battered xp system
with sweet ram and gfx card of awesomeness. zbrush runs mighty smooth
on my system. oh my...

*ok, i exagerrate.
