Hello all and best wishes for 2025.

Having said that I want to share that due to changed circumstances, Family History will be on the back burner for me this year so my online presence may be rare if at all.

I’ve had this email on my ‘todo’ list for a bit but I’ve been prompted into action today by a possible insight while watching an unrelated video in the Systems Thinking genre.  The presenter while backgrounding his involvement since his student’s days asked the question “where do I start?”  Paraphrased, his answer is “it doesn’t matter because when dealing with connected things all connections will be revealed in time”.

It led me to think that the same applies to family history and historical research in general.  It doesn’t really matter where you start as research unveils the connections.  It follows that it may be sensible to start with the most interesting person/place/event/story, etc as this provides motivation to “connect the dots” and learn more.

Anyway, all the best for the current year and beyond.

Regards

Kevin Meehan

PS:  My wish for 2025 is that HRE releases an Alpha, Beta and Version 1.0.0
