Hi
Further to recent discussions about timelines, here’s a timeline for General Electric which is probably of little interest to anybody in this group – unless they (like me) or their relatives worked for GE at some time.
I’m currently engrossed in reading about GE’s history following its recent demise as I joined in the same year that (Neutron) Jack Welch became CEO. It’s a fascinating history for anybody interested in GE or business generally and may provide some insights into how corporations have changed in our lifetimes. Here’s the list of books read (or reading) in chronological order:
|
|
Published |
Title |
Read |
Reading |
Unread |
|
1 |
2021 |
Lights out: pride, delusion, and the fall of General Electric |
X |
|
|
|
2 |
2022 |
The man who broke capitalism: how Jack Welch gutted the heartland and crushed the soul of corporate America--and how to undo his legacy |
X |
|
|
|
3 |
2022 |
Power failure: the rise and fall of General Electric |
|
X |
|
|
4 |
1999 |
At any cost: Jack Welch, General Electric, and the pursuit of profit |
|
|
X |
The most comprehensive is the third and it’s probably also the least sensational/biased.
Anyway, back to timelines.
Timeline of General Electric - Wikipedia
Because I’m lazy, does anybody know what the default date is in TMG reports using timeline(s) when the timeline month and day fields are empty?
Regards
Kevin M.
PS: I’m about to have a look under the bonnet at TMG’s database structure. If anybody knows of an ER diagram for the TMG database (any version of TMG), please let me know.
Good Morning Kevin,
I was also looking for a “Data Dictionary” for TMG many years ago.
This link a bit outdated (like TMG) but in the last few lines it does reference a Zip file (File structure) plus other articles that may be helpful.
The Master Genealogist Version 7 (tamurajones.net)
I hope it helps you and GE.
