Dear TMB users,

I’m very happy to announce that we’ll be hosting an undergraduate student collaborator, Divit Purwar, over the summer, via the Google Summer of Code program. Divit will be forking glmmTMB and converting the likelihood code from TMB to RTMB to make it easier for more people to contribute in the future. You will probably see some questions from Divit posted here when it pertains to this group. It would be great if replying to these questions could be a joint community effort and then the questions and answers can benefit other users.

As a shameless plug, I just want to point out that RTMBdist exists as a library of non-standard distributions compatible with RTMB.

It would be great if Divit keeps this in mind because
a) I ran into various minor and major hurdles when first implementing custom distributions (which are now overcome for the most part), so using RTMBdist probably saves time, and
b) if the package is used more, stability will be checked by more people and more bugs will be found. I'm happy about any issue opened on Github. :)

Cheers
