Anyone have experience with finding trades on the hipages app? How reliable are the reviews? A lot of people on the app store say negative ratings/reviews for tradies are not shown. As a tradie myself i can understand it's peoples livelihoods being impacted but if thats the case then the ratings are pretty meaningless.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from hipages Group Pty Ltd (hipages) on 28 May 2023 under section 87B of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) in relation to claims about conduct that was likely to contravene sections 18 and 29(1)(m) of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

hipages needed a comprehensive HR system that could automate manual processes without compromising quality, especially for onboarding new staff and producing reports for executives and the board. It also needed to serve as a single source of truth as data entry had become a significant pain point. This meant their HRIS needed to integrate with other core systems.

Another HR task that took time was creating reports for executives and the board. hipages is a data-driven business, and the people team needed to be able to turn data into insights quickly. They now use Bob to generate detailed reports for senior leaders and the board on metrics such as new hires, attrition, time to hire, quality of hire, and diversity.

These stats are essential to hipages as the company strives to be a leader in diversity in the tech space. hipages has achieved gender parity at the executive and board level, and the gender pay gap in late 2022 was only 1.9 percent, compared to the Australian average of 14 percent. The admin team used to track these metrics manually with Google Sheets, but they can now be pulled and turned into a report at the touch of a button.

The hipages Group is a technology company that connects homeowners with trade workers via an online marketplace and also provides trade companies with a purpose-built app designed to simplify business management. Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Sydney, hipages serves customers across Australia and New Zealand. The company, which is publicly traded on the Australian Securities Exchange, has nearly 300 employees spread across Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and China.

With a team spread out across four countries that was using Windows and Mac devices and upwards of 30 different SaaS tools, the hipages IT team lacked a way to manage all of its users from one location.

While hipages have had strong growth in the online channels - getting over 80,000 jobs a month at the end of 2015, and a projected January 90,000 in January - they still only capture around 1.5-2% of trade jobs.

David Vitek is an Australian entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of hipages Group, a lead generation and online directory service connecting consumers to tradesmen.[3][4][5] Vitek founded hipages with childhood friend, Roby Sharon-Zipser in 2004.[6] The company started as Viteknologies,[7] an online directory with a focus on natural therapies.[8][9] The founders decided to expand and change the primary focus to tradesmen as well as natural therapies and pet services.[10][11][12] As CEO, Vitek grew the directory to record more than 40,000 businesses registered covering over 1,200 categories with 75,000 written recommendations from homeowners, making hipages one of Australia's largest on-demand home services marketplace and leading sites for finding local tradespeople.[13] Vitek previously worked for a startup company called Report Control, and then later he was an engineer at IBM.[14]

Vitek resigned as CEO in 2019,[15] after hipages posted losses of $13 million, up from $8.5 million the year before.[16] In 2020 Vitek started a new venture: Kidsbook - a booking platform for kids activities.[17]

Thoughtworks (NASDAQ: TWKS), a global technology consultancy that integrates strategy, design and engineering to drive digital transformation, today announced it has partnered with hipages Group (ASX: HPG) to provide a one-stop platform that tradespeople can use to manage and grow their business.

As part of a long term partnership arrangement, one of the other initiatives that hipages Group and Thoughtworks worked together is to deliver a new and improved payments system, addressing challenges tradespeople faced collecting payments from customers and managing cash flow. Customer research conducted by hipages Group revealed many still rely on direct bank transfers which are often difficult to track or follow. As a result of this, the partnership extended to focus on a new solution to support the long-term growth and success of tradies.

With Branch Journeys, hipages is now able to convert website visitors to high-value app users through personalised smart banners. Journeys allows the team to test different templates, customize branding, and tailor messages to different audiences in minutes.

The NSW Department of Education recognises the importance of qualified tradies delivering maintenance work at NSW public schools. Licences required to complete jobs in NSW may vary by trade category. After completing the Registration form a member of the hipages customer service team will contact you to discuss required qualifications for your trade.

We used hi pages last December and had two tradies quote for the work. One of them was especially perseverant and asked for an advance promising to start immediately. We paid an advance (30%) got a receipt off him. Since then it's been a continuous stream of lies and tales of misfortune. At the end he promised to return the money (but didn't) and we've run out of options. He's stopped responding to texts (he doesn't answer his phone). So much for trusting hipages. Has anyone gone through a similar experience and do I have to take him to small claims to get my advance back?

Thanks. When we spoke to hipages in the morning today, they were very cordial but advised us there is nothing they can do despite the fact that if not for them, I didn't know the tradie. They deny any responsibility. I've got a signed receipt for the money paid, in front of witnesses, with a registered ABN number from the person claiming to own it.

One thing that came out of the discussion was that he'd done it to several (about ten judging from the numbers) people and all of them are now calling hipages (who don't want to have anything to do with this). If any of you had a dealing with Dean Panzarin Apex Security Screens and Doors, please contact me and we can go it together.

Dah!!! I just realized after reading your post that hipages does not put negative reviews up.I actually used a tradesman that I got through them only to be ripped off with bad work, damage & terrifying verbal abuse from the tradesman.Hipages I feel have sided with the tradie as they have told me that my side of the story does not match his side.Of course not he has my money & is lying.Hipages are absolutely no help.I have even given them 100% proof that this business has put up fake reviews but they are not interested.Yep good old word of mouth is the way to go with negative reviews & boy do I have a big mouth. Thanks for your post,it woke me up!!!

I realize this was posted a while ago,but I was interested in how you got on.I am having a very similar reaction from hipages who introduced an absolute horror of a tradie to myself & subsequently did damage to my home & ripped me off as well as becoming very verbally abusive in my home, to which I have witnesses, but according to hipages family members do not count????.Their advice is they cannot do anything to help.I, like you, am going to take it as far as I have to even if only on principal as the tradies wife is branding me a liar which I am not.Seems hipages would rather believe her as she pays them for the jobs right? Please let me know how you got on.I hope you nailed the person.I agree if not for hipages we would not have ever come in contact with this disgusting shoddy tradie.

I was looking for someone to repair broken roof tiles. I found hipages and submitted my contact number. Within a minute, I got a call from a guy who claimed he had had 18 years of experience. I then googled his mobile number and found out he works in "Adult Entertainment" as well (I am certain that he does two businesses).

Later, I browsed through hipages' list and noticeced the website publishes positive reviews only. The reason is very clear to me, as it's the website solely paid by the "tradies". The website doesn't contain any clickable ads from Google, for example, as a source of income. The "recommendations" on the website are biased and definitely cannot be trusted by comsumers.

im a tradie, i have used hipages for more than 5 years. lately i found that every lead i get sent is useless. the customer simply wont answer the phone. and hipages wont give me refund on dud leads. (they used to)
do any other tradies have this problem, and what do they do about it?
