BornBalraj Dutt on June 6th, 1929 in Jhelum district (now in Pakistan), Sunil Dutt and his family moved to this side of the border following partition. Eventually he moved to Mumbai for his graduation and joined Radio Ceylon as a radio announcer. He made his debut as an actor in the movie Railway Platform (1957). In a career that eventually spanned 50 years, the good-looking, versatile Sunil Dutt made his mark in blockbusters (Waqt, Mother India, Humraaz), sensitive path-breaking movies (Sujata, Sadhna, Mujhe Jeene Do) and unusual experimental movies (Yaadein, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar ke)

2) Itna na mujh se pyar badha (Chhaya, 1961, Talat Mahmood, Salil Chowdhary): I associate this movie with Sujata. For one, the plot is somewhat similar. Both movies had fantastic music. And they were directed by Bengali directors. And they starred two heroines I am very fond of (Nutan and Asha Parekh). And yes, they both had a very good-looking Sunil Dutt.

3) Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se (Gumraah, 1963, Mahendra Kapoor, Ravi): Next is an all time favourite penned by Sahir that has featured in many many lists before this. But what a song! The music, singing, and lyrics are just perfect as they convey the anguish of a man who is trying to put a past relationship behind him, knowing fully well that it is difficult and is unable to.

5) Yeh wadiyan yeh fizayen bula rahi hain tumhe (Aaj aur Kal, 1963, Mohd Rafi, Ravi): A beautiful Rafi song picturised on Sunil Dutt and Nanda (who looks particularly lovely). The situation of this song is tender, gentle and encouraging rather than romantic. Sunil Dutt plays the gentle, kind doctor who is trying a shy, morose wheelchair-bound Nanda to get up and stand.

6) Ram kare aisa ho jaaye (Milan, 1967, Mukesh, Laxmikant-Pyarelal): I am no Mukesh fan, but I really like this emotional lullaby from this reincarnation saga. Sunil Dutt sings this plaintive number with a lot of emotion, as a distraught Nutan tries to sleep. It is a sweet, loving moment from the film, as far as I remember.

Jab Dekh liya has Asha Parekh wearing pink and perched on a cycle (aka Pukarta Chala hoon main) While I love Pukarta chala hoon main more for the music and singing, Sunil Dutt does a far better job in this song in terms of acting than Mr. Biswajeet!

Debi Dutta better known by her stage name Kyra Dutt is an Indian actress and model who primarily appears in Hindi films.[1] She was one of the models of the famous Kingfisher Calendar in 2013.[2]

Kyra appeared in a small role beside Ranbir Kapoor in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) and later appeared in several special songs in South Indian films. Then she appeared as a female lead in Calendar Girls (2015). Later she signed a contract with Balaji Telefilms, under which she appeared in XXX.[4]

In February 2017, due to the delay in releasing the film XXX she ended her contract with the Balaji Telefilms.[7][8] Later she appeared in a short film titled Lonely Girl, which was aired directly on YouTube on 23 February 2017.[9] Later in early June 2017, she signed to do a special appearance song in Puri Jagannadh's Paisa Vasool, a Telugu film, but ended up playing a role of ACP Kiranmai, who works as a bar dancer incognito[10]

In addition, the report stated that there are "high chances" of the two actors collaborating with singer AP Dhillon for an upcoming song. It is being said that the video will show them dancing and showing off their dance moves.

When it comes to their bond, Salman shares a close bond with Sanjay. They have worked together on multiple projects. They shared screen space in films such as Chal Mere Bhai, Saajan, Om Shanti Om among others. On the small screen, they hosted the fifth season of Bigg Boss together.

From another released soundtrack. The songs were never quite promoted well which is why most of you haven't heard this. I quite like this one. This was my first collaboration with Srijato, Panku & Ninnai (Sayantan) on vocals.

While the song broke many romantic hearts, there were many who started dialing the number 2441139. Anjan Dutta had used the number just to rhyme and did not realize the consequences. To the utter dismay of the curious callers, Bela Bose was nowhere to be found, but the number actually belonged to someone.

It was the home number of the editor of a Hindi newspaper, Dainik Vishwamitra. Calls came pouring in throughout the day in search of Bela Bose which made the editor lose his mind. The editor received around 700 such calls and sued Anjan Dutta. Finally, Dutta apologized to the editor explaining that he had tried various phone numbers which would perfectly rhyme with the song and 2441139 did the best. A song almost landed Anjan Dutta in court!

In 2012, I became obsessed with the Bombay film industry of the 1950s. I had this obsession at a time in human history when YouTube put at my disposal a wealth of black-and-white film songs that I could play for hours, uninterrupted. I spent many evenings and weekends listening to these and ended up picking my favourite artistes as I went along.

It covers a range of genres and moods. There are playful songs, philosophical songs, a romantic duet, and even a contemplative critique of the state of affairs in the county just ten years into Independence. I did not think much of 'Jinhein Naaz Hai Hind Par Woh Kahaan Hai' when I first watched the movie, but it now amazes me that artistes could write and perform such a song at a time when their peers' words on the nation were mostly cheerful messages of hope.

Pyaasa's soundtrack is testament to my strong belief that Mohammed Rafi is the greatest playback singer in our cinematic history. He glides effortlessly between the whimsy of 'Sar Jo Tera Chakraye' and the scathing intensity of 'Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye', a song that, unfortunately, does not enjoy the recognition it deserves. Especially in a time when almost everyone is looking for their fifteen minutes of fame through the instant gratification of social media, the song serves as a reminder of the hypocrisy attached to the world of glamour.

But there is one song requiring male vocals in Pyaasa that Rafi did not sing. Had it been any other singer, the song would most likely not have turned out as memorable as it did. Hemant Kumar's rendition of 'Jaane Woh Kaise Log The' is movingly melancholic without being outright morose. The depth and soul of his voice were perfect for this song.

We have spoken about Rafi sahib and Hemantda's contribution to the soundtrack of Pyaasa and must now turn our attention to the sublime Geeta Dutt. She is rightly remembered for classics like 'Waqt Ne Kiya', 'Na Jao Saiyan', and, from Pyaasa itself, 'Jaane Kya Tune Kahi'. But she has another solo in Pyaasa, also underrated like 'Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye', perhaps even a little more.

In 'Aaj Sajan Mohe Ang Lagalo', she employs the bhakti ideal of devotion tinged with longing to perfection. And Guru Dutt translated that feeling on to the screen with his signature mastery over song sequences. In the film, the song is sung by a Baul singer, but she is merely a vehicle used to convey the feelings of Waheeda Rehman's character, Gulabo, for the protagonist, Guru Dutt's Vijay. It shows Gulabo at her weakest moment, walking towards her beloved, dying to be in his presence, but finally walking away without letting him know that she was there. Gulabo doesn't mouth a word of the song, but the emotion is all hers.

Kyun Main Jagoon from Akshay Kumar's 2011 film Patiala House is one of the most cherished sad songs in Bollywood for more than a decade. It's easily one of the songs that has helped us heal over the years.

Picturized on Akshay Kumar, the song was written by Anvitaa Dutt Guptan and sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali. But do you know that lyricist Anvitaa was going through a major heartbreak when she wrote this song?

According to excerpts from the book Change Makers by Gayatri Rangachari Shah and Mallika Kapur shared by Rediff, Anvitaa Dutt wrote Kyun Main Jagoon song from Akshay Kumar's Patiala House the day her marriage broke. The lyricist, writer, and director was married to the guy she fell in love with during her college days. He was also the first boy she kissed. They got married at the age of 23, but ironically, it didn't sustain.

After her marriage broke, a shattered Anvitaa sat with a friend and cried her heart out. They didn't exchange any words, and her friend simply handed Anvitaa a piece of paper and a pencil and said, 'It's the only thing that will help.'

She wrote a few lines of the song. Later in the day, she had a recording with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who gave her a melody and asked her to write to it. Co-incidentally, the words she wrote fit the music perfectly, and the rest we know is history.

Anvitaa Dutt has written for several films like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Anjaana Anjaani, Tees Maar Khan, Ra.One, Ek Tha Tiger, Queen, Bang Bang, and many more. She made her directorial debut with the 2020 film Bulbbul and later directed the critically acclaimed Qala in 2022.

Directed by Nikkhil Advani, Patiala House is a sports drama that was released in 2011. The film revolves around a boy named Parghat Singh Kahlon, who lives in London with his family. He wants to be a cricketer and play for the England Cricket Team, but he has to live the life his father chose for him. Tension rises, and he has to choose between his father's wishes and his dreams when he is selected to play for the English team.
