Subject: OBJECTION to TLD Suggestion/Request--.music
To:
dis...@lists.opennicproject.orgThe TLD .music is taken - don't know it's status. You should contact the administrator. See if he would mind listing it on the opennic.
TLD Registrant:
Name: Jason Hendeles
Company name: Icm Registry
Address: 23 McKayfield Road
City: Toronto
State: Ontario
Zip: M4J 4P6
Country: Canada
Phone: +1.888.282.6972

Fax: +1.416.485.6195
Email: ja...@iy.com
The claim is valid - this is a legacy alt root TLD. No fraud that I can tell. They are the same people who operate .XXX and have been suing ICANN. So if you guys are serious about this one I suggest you contact Jason Hendeles or whoever is running Icm these days.
Incidentally this claim dates back to 1996 and is found in the Postel document of claims made to IANA. The TLD was originally claimed back then by Christopher Ambler another legacy alt root zone person.
Both Hendeles and Ambler are ORSC. The ORSC also recognizes Hendeles as the operator.
My recommendation is call Hendeles and find out what is happening with the TLD. Recommended procedure RFC 1591.

p.s. There will also be an ICANN new gTLD application for this TLD. This is another consideration - if an application to ICANN is made by a third party unrelated to the .MUSIC administrator here - will the administrator of this TLD do his best to defend it before ICANN?
I've asked this question before. Never got an answer.

I want to open a new TLD, .music. The purpose of this TLD would be to provide sites for musicians who want to showcase their works, or possibly for fansites of musicians.
