Gujarat leader Modi's rating on the rise whilst PM Singh struggles for
voters' approval
26th January 2012
If a general election were to be held now, the non-UPA, non-NDA
parties will have an edge, says a Nation Poll conducted in January
2012.
The Congress, which has 206 seats in the Lok Sabha, will manage just
110 seats and the BJP may improve its tally to 140 seats from 116
seats in 2009.
The survey adds that non-UPA, non-NDA parties will get 180 to 190
seats. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the
'popular choice' for the post of Prime Minister. He beats Congress
general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who was the most preferred in 2011.
